| | Baby Chicks in 6th and 7th Grade | |
- 7th-grade science students in Mrs. Pettijohn's and Mr. Dummer's classes at Lake Geneva Middle School hatched 25 baby chicks during their Embryology II unit. Students learned about incubation, life cycles, natural selection, and animal breeds, while focusing on essential life skills such as responsibility, empathy, sharing, and patience. In addition, the unit provided emotional benefits, helping reduce stress and anxiety by observing and interacting with our natural world.
- 6th graders in Mrs. Hall's & Mrs. Ward's science classes are in their hatching unit. Students learned how to care for eggs, observe development, and support healthy chicks from incubation to first feathers. They practiced responsibility, recorded observations, and connected science to real-life care — hands-on learning at its best!
| | Hope Squad Hope Week Activities | | Last week, Lake Geneva Middle School Hope Squad celebrated Hope Week. Students focused the fun week around spreading hope and kindness. Hope Squad students hosted a rock decorating day where students could leave positive messages on rocks. Hope Squad members then placed them throughout Big Foot Beach State Park. They passed out red sunglasses to all LGMS students and staff, with the message, "Your Future's So Bright You Have to Wear Shades." They ended the week with their 2nd Annual Books and Breakfast. Hope Squad students visited elementary schools in Lake Geneva for a donut breakfast and read books to 4K and 5K students about positive friendships. | | Mrs. Ward’s sixth graders spent two sun‑filled days launching rockets and exploring the night sky—hands-on fun as we learned about the Moon and its phases. This mini-unit celebrates the astronauts who recently orbited our closest neighbor, sparking curiosity and big questions about space. Watch these young scientists launch, observe, and connect classroom lessons to real-world exploration! | | |

We’re so excited to see this group continue to grow and lead by example next fall! | | Time Capsule--50th Anniversary | | |
What a special moment at Lake Geneva Middle School yesterday! In 1976, the year of America’s bicentennial, a 6th grade class at what was then Central Elementary School created a time capsule under the direction of their teacher, Florence Ackley. It was meant to be opened in 35 years. Fifty years later, it finally happened.
On Wednesday, May 27, former classmates (Ellen Burling, Stacy Camalieri, Linda Forbes Reuss, and Craig Wahlstedt) gathered at Lake Geneva Middle School to open it together, and our current 6th graders got a front-row seat to a little piece of local history right here in Lake Geneva. Discovered were letters to their future selves, fears, predictions, pictures from Outdoor Education (a 6th grade tradition), a newspaper article, coins, stamps, a class list, a bicentennial collectible soda can, and much more.
A huge thank you to Ellen Dare Burling from the 6th Grade Class of 1976 for coordinating this with us and making it happen. What a wonderful way to connect generations of Lake Geneva students, and a perfect reminder that 250 years of American history lives right here in our community.
250 years of America. 50 years since that 6th grade class.
Students in Mrs. Derrick's 6th grade Social Studies classes are putting together a time capsule of their own to carry on this tradition.

Important:
Student Attendance Procedures
| | Students need to be to school by 7:10am and are to be in their homeroom by the time the bell rings at 7:20am. | | |
Student Attendance and Attendance Procedures
One of the biggest ways parents/guardians can help their child succeed this school year is to make sure their child gets to school, on time, each and every day. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. Every day counts, and missing school even 10% of the time has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress through school. We want to ask for parent’s/guardian’s commitment to making sure their child attends school every day possible this year.
When a child does have to be absent from school, we ask that you communicate with us about the absence BEFORE 8:00AM. When your child will be absent, you have three communication options:
Call Mrs. Kramp in the main office at 262-348-3040 to speak with her and/or leave a message.
| | |
When to Send Your Child to School or Keep Them Home?
At Lake Geneva Schools, we know that regular attendance is key to academic success! Being in class daily helps students build strong habits, stay engaged, and gain valuable social skills. However, we also want to maintain a healthy, germ-free learning environment.
Use this guide (https://bit.ly/healthyLGS) to help decide when your child should attend school or stay home to recover. If your child has a fever over 100.4°F, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, it's best for them to rest at home. For minor symptoms like a runny nose, if there’s no fever, they’re ready for class!
When in doubt, contact the school health office, and let's work together to keep everyone healthy and learning!
| | Wisconsin Respiratory Viral Report is a great way to see Respiratory Illness trends in both the State of Wisconsin and different Regions of Wisconsin. If your child is diagnosed with a Respiratory Illness, please update their building health office and keep home until they are well enough to be in class and ready to learn. | | LGMS Athletic Registration (Concussion Form) | | |
Hello LGMS Parents/Guardians!
We are very excited for this coming school year! For our athletics, we do have forms that are required for participation. We will be having parents/guardians complete the concussion/cardiac arrest agreement (waiver) through google form (linked below). This form is needed for your child to participate in ANY athletic intramural or interscholastic sport at LGMS but only needs to be filled out once per year. This form also needs to be filled out with your child. We want athletes to know and understand the signs and symptoms of a concussion or possible cardiac arrest.
All of the information needed is linked on the google form. This google form will need to be filled out prior to the first practice of the sport your student signs up for to be able to participate.
Also required is a school physical form. Please see link to the form below. This form is to be filled out by the parent and physician.

Communication Protocol
Whom do I contact with a question or suggestion?

The communication protocol starts with the staff member closest to the situation, as that person usually has the most information. However, at times, additional personnel are required to resolve specific concerns.
