In Our Prayers
-
We pray for Anna Grace's stepfather, Steve, who is undergoing a number of heart treatments.
-
We give thanks today for 100 years of ministry in the "Church House," the original name for the building that houses Russell Hall, Lindsley Hall, and the church offices. We are grateful for the precious memories of work, learning, singing, and celebration in those spaces!
-
We ask for blessings on the beginning of our Stewardship season, and for the celebratory Fall Brunch that we will have after worship on Sunday.
-
We pray for Lori Godwin, who is rehabilitating after a recent hospital stay.

| | We welcome our Church family back from Scotland | | |
When we began planning an LAC pilgrimage to Scotland, there were two basic hopes for the trip. The first hope was that the trip would increase our historical awareness of the Protestant Reformation and deepen our understanding of the theological ideals that motivated the original Reformers.
The second was to provide a new way to build community, forge connections, and deepen friendships.
Having returned from our adventure, we can report that both goals were not only met, but that the actual experience exceeded our grandest hopes. Walking the streets where the Reformers walked and sitting in the pews where they worshiped and served, we realized just how relevant the values of the 1500's remain in our current day and age. We now have a much greater appreciation for the theological legacy in which we now stand. The relationships among the pilgrims are also broader and stronger than when we first set out. Traveling day after day with a large group can be challenging, but out on the road our sense of community rose to a whole new level. The overall success of the trip just goes to show what we, as a church, can do when we come together in a shared sense of curiosity, hope, commitment, and faith. Even as we toured some glorious worship spaces, palaces, and castles, we realized that the teaching from scripture is true: God does not live in buildings made with hands.
The real strength of the church -- the real endurance of the church -- has never been found in bricks or mortar, but rather in the people who share the spiritual journey.
As a group, we look forward to sharing more with you all on Reformation Sunday (October 26th). In the meantime, we thank you again for your prayers, your support, and for traveling with us -- even from afar!
Blessings, Peter
