Dear Residents,

Last week, I had the privilege and honor of attending several veteran events to thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice. We are forever indebted to the men and women who defend our freedom.  There is still one more event happening next Friday—the Town of Orangetown and Veterans Angels of Hope will be handing out Veteran Thanksgiving Dinner Bags filled with holiday goodies. Please call my office at (845) 359-5100 x2293 to reserve your dinner bag.

This Saturday is the second-to-last Farmers Market of the season. There will be a great lineup of vendors, so please stop by the Central Avenue Field in Pearl River between 10 am and 2 pm to pick up some treats for Thanksgiving—or perhaps just a little something for yourself.

Please note that the November 18, 2025 public hearing for the proposed local law to establish the Multifamily Dwelling Community - LI Floating Zone (155 S. Greenbush Rd) is going to be postponed until December 16, 2025 due to anticipated revisions to the applicant's conceptual plan to comply with new wetlands regulations. The new conceptual plan will be posted on the Town's website once it is available.

There are plenty of things happening around town this weekend—just don’t forget your umbrella! Stay safe and enjoy yourselves.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

Orangetown Museum Annual Dinner

On Sunday, Supervisor Kenny attended the Orangetown Museum’s annual dinner at the historic ’76 House. Guests were treated to an engaging presentation by “Mountain Man” Fred Shofer, whose storytelling captured the crowd. Supervisor Kenny extends her best wishes to outgoing curator Stefanie D’Erasmo and thanks her for her dedicated service to the Museum.

As the leaves fall and the colors change, please remember that leaf piles can be dangerous — both for drivers and for children playing nearby.

Driving Through Leaf Piles:

  • Never drive through leaf piles along the roadway. Children sometimes play or hide in them and may not be visible from your vehicle.
  • Wet leaves can create slippery conditions, reducing traction and braking distance.
  • Leaves can also hide hazards such as curbs, potholes, or debris.

Parking on Leaf Piles:

  • Avoid parking vehicles over dry leaf piles. Hot exhaust systems can ignite leaves, leading to vehicle fires and property damage.
  • Always keep a safe distance from leaf piles when parking along the street.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe this fall — for kids, families, and everyone enjoying the season.
