Health Ed Basics 4: LGBTQ-Affirming Classrooms (K-12): Explore how to make your Health Education classes more inclusive for students and families who hold diverse identities. Health educators learn why and how classroom strategies can increase school connectedness and promote success for all students. It is recommended that participants attend Health Ed Basics 1: Teaching Skills-Based Health Education (Grades K-12) prior to attending this session. Register for your grade band. CTLE: 90 minutes

Health Education Overviews: These 15-minute on-demand videos provide an overview of comprehensive Health Education, including a summary of Health Education requirements, and explore how the New York City Health Education Scope and Sequence and other curriculum materials to support teachers for the 2022-23 school year.

LGTBQ+ 101 K-12: This 30-minute on-demand video examines concepts and terms such as sex assigned at birth, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation. It provides tips to use in the classroom and school community to help create an inclusive culture, including an inclusive curriculum. Such an environment benefits all students by promoting diversity and is related to fewer hostile experiences, better attendance, increased feelings of connectedness at school, and academic improvements.
