Thanksgiving Sunday

This year, Thanksgiving Sunday is October 11 and the Worship Team is decorating the front altar. We are asking the congregation to participate by bringing fruit, vegetables, canned goods or other food items to supplement our Thanksgiving display. These food items will be collected after the service and delivered to the Dundas Food Bank. We offer this opportunity for giving as one way of supporting those who could use a little extra.

Thank you from your Worship Team!

Community Dinner Gift Table

It has been our custom to provide a small gift item in December to our Community Diners. The Caring Kitchen Team would like to do this again. This year we are offering an opportunity for our Community of Faith to participate. We need approximately 60 gift items which would provide each individual or family to take home something from Highland Hills. The Caring Kitchen Team has come up with some suggestions for your consideration:

  • Practical items (flashlights, batteries, small tool kits, pens or markers)
  • Kitchen items (oven mitts, can openers, cooking utensils)
  • Personal hygiene items (shampoo, deodorant, soap)
  • Books (puzzle books or novels)
  • Games (cards, puzzles)

There will be a labelled box in the Narthex to collect these items. We will be collecting gift items on October 18 and 25.  All donations should be unwrapped, and we have put a $20.00 limit on each gift item. We hope to provide a good variety of gifts. Thank you for considering this opportunity to support the Community Diners.

Hi everyone!

Remember the stew pot analogy from an outdoor service a few years back? It was at the very beginning of blending our ministries. Rev Peg and Rev Penny were our clergy.

A few of us are having a little getaway next week. I know we will come to know each other better and be tossing around ideas for our Highland Hills community. We need everyone’s voice to enrich this ministry that we are living.

If you have an idea that has been nudging you to share it ……. PLEASE, send your thoughts to us so they can be added to that giant stew that we started!

CALLING ALL KNITTERS….COOLER WEATHER IS IN THE FORECAST

It’s time to get out our knitting needles, crochet hooks and yarn to create some winter warmth for clients of Wesley and the Dundas Food Bank. This year Wesley has asked for mitts, slippers and blankets. The Food Bank would be happy to receive hats, mitts and scarves for the children, women and men who use their services. Usually the adults are looking for darker colours but most children like cheery colours too. Just remember to use yarn that is machine washable and dryable and any pattern you choose. We have patterns to share - just contact us. Watch for our clotheslines to appear in the narthex in mid November. Many thanks for this gift of time and talent.
