NPR series: Climate migration and the rise of the right
|
In every hemisphere, cross-border migration is taking place, driven by changes in the climate that are also changing ways of life. That's expected to grow as climate change intensifies. In a series beginning tomorrow, NPR's Ari Shapiro and a team from All Things Considered explore the connection between climate change, the movement of people around the globe, and the rise of xenophobic politicians.
Ari and crew start exploring on a path that thousands of people have already taken: from Senegal, through Morocco, to Spain. In the first report in the series, they look at the climate factors pushing the city of Saint-Louis, Senegal into the sea, earning it U.N. designation as the African city most threatened by rising sea levels. The series continues on All Things Considered, 4 to 7 p.m. weekdays, throughout this month.

Community challenge highlights hunger in Oklahoma
|
Again at calendar year's end, KGOU is partnering with residential construction company Home Creations and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in a community fundraising project. Once again, Home Creations is pledging contributions to KGOU and to the food bank for each of the first 500 donations of support for your public radio station. That's $10,000 each for KGOU and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma when the goal is reached.

The need has not abated in 2022 -- for trustworthy news and information, and for our neighbors at risk of going hungry. Contribute to this community effort if you can. It takes all of us!
