WSAE Board
Are you ready to take your involvement to the next level?
WSAE board nomination period is now open
The 2016 WSAE Nominating Committee is asking that any member interested in serving on the 2017 WSAE Board of Directors complete the Board Candidate form and send to Michelle Czosek no later than Thursday, July 28.

The openings for the 2017 WSAE Board are:
  • Secretary/Treasurer. This position serves a one-year term that is typically nominated each year to ascend to the chair elect, chair and past chair positions. Any member in good standing shall be eligible for nomination and election to this office, provided he/she shall have served at least one year as a member of the board of directors at any time prior to an elective term of office.
  • At-large directors (3). At-large directors serve three-year terms. We do have directors currently serving that are eligible to serve another term. However, if the Secretary/Treasurer is an existing board member then that person's unexpired term will need to be filled, guaranteeing that we will need a minimum of one new board member.

Information about the board is included on the form. If you have any questions about serving, please feel free to contact any member of the current board of directors or Michelle Czosek.

CAE Exam Prep
Prepare for the December 2016 CAE exam
The Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) CAE preparation course has a strong record of demonstrated success, with an average pass rate of more than 90 percent, and including participants from over 35 states and more than five countries. This program has helped more association executives become CAE's than any other entity through online learning, writing the original CAE Study Guide, generating reading outlines by domain, mock exams and CAE Terminology and Key Concepts Flash Cards. Prep course participants can call in from anywhere and conference calls are recorded for those who are unable to participate at the scheduled time.

Choose from three preparation course options:
  1. Full Course - the most robust course online course with weekly calls and personalized attention.
  2. Concentrated Course - an accelerated version of the full course condensed to a 2-month period.
  3. CRAM Session - a face-to-face intense training session offered over a 3-day period.
All three options have been designed to offer the personalized support candidates need to be prepared for the CAE exam. Click here for more information and for registration info. Please mention that you are a WSAE member, and take advantage of special pricing for members of state societies of association executives.

Passwords for content
How does your association handle content on your website? Do you post print magazine or newsletter content to your website? Is it behind a password? All of it? Some of it? If some, how do you decide what to password protect and what not? Also, does your association post other content on your website that is separate from your print content such as online articles, blog posts and whitepapers? And are these items password protected or open? Many thanks for your insights on this evolving topic!

Prepare for the Next Technology Wave: DISRUPT
by Sherry Budziak

Technology advancements are changing everything. Consider these current and future realities:
  • Robotics are and will continue taking over some current jobs, allowing us to discover new ones.
  • Many organizations are trading traditional offices and headquarters for virtual environments.
  • Books, libraries, movies, videos, games and education will change as more individuals become "people of the screens"-tethered to their phones, tablets, PCs, TVs, VR goggles.
  • More global freelancers are being hired.
  • Citizen journalism is increasing-ordinary people are composing 80 million blog posts each day.
  • Everything that can be tracked will be. In the next five years, 34 million Internet-enabled devices will be added to the cloud that are built to stream data.
  • By 2025, there will be 500 billion connected devices in the world. In the next five years alone, there will be 3 billion to 5 billion new people connected to the Internet.

How can your organization prepare for and take advantage of these new realities and next waves of technology?
