It’s officially starting to feel like summer! How did we hit May already?
I hope everyone’s Q2 is off to a great start and business is starting to pick back up after the crazy year that was 2020.
We had a pretty busy start to the year here at UMAPP, so I just wanted to check in and keep everyone up to date on the things that are going on around here. Friday Lives are still going strong. It is great to see the continued excitement and involvement around those!
We had a awesome virtual show in February that allowed us to “get together” the best we could during these times. While it wasn’t in person, it was still nice to chat with some familiar faces and catch up with what’s going on in the industry. The board has been busy trying to maneuver the ever-changing COVID-19 guidelines and while we unfortunately had to postpone our Room Show that was supposed to be in April, we are VERY MUCH looking forward to seeing everyone in August for our golf outing and Brand Connection Expo with special guest, Dan Nevins. Here is your reminder to get your golf team rallied together and signed up to play! While this year has still been a little different, I’m hopeful that things will start to shift to a more normal feeling as we get into fall.
In the meantime, get outside and enjoy the awesome weather! I don’t know about you, but there is nothing better than some sunshine and patio drink after a long cold winter!

Some days you just feel uninspired at work. It’s difficult to make those client calls and keep going on your to-do list. You may not feel like signing on for your meetings or coming up with ideas for that client proposal.
A lack of motivation can stem from several different causes, including a too-busy schedule or uncertainty on how to get started on something. Or, you may just need a break. If you do not give yourself proper time away from work, you’ll wind up burned out.

. . . Coconut oil might not be all it's cracked up to be? It's often touted as a superfood, but experts say coconut oil is no better for you than other fats. It has more calories than butter and more of it is saturated (87%) than is butter (63%) or beef fat (40%), meaning that it can drive up cholesterol levels and clog arties just like its less glamorous peers. . . . an electric-car battery that charges in five minutes has been developed. The Israeli company StoreDot has created a lithium-ion battery that can be fully charged in just five minutes and is compatible with current charging methods. The Guardian.
. . .that humans have been chewing gum for at least 5,700 years? A wad of ancient birch pitch gum was found at an archaeological site in Denmark. The genetic material in the gum showed that a child had chewed the gum, that she had black hair, blue eyes, and dark skin and had recently eaten hazelnuts and duck. Study by researchers at University of Copenhagen, Denmark, published in Nature Communications.
