Dear Volunteers,
On behalf of NJ LEEP’s Board of Trustees, I want to convey our deepest gratitude to you for your service as an NJ LEEP volunteer. Although National Volunteer Week only runs from April 18-24, we want you to know that we truly appreciate our volunteers 365 days a year.
Over the past year, volunteers have dedicated more than 1,000 hours of their time to support our community by hosting students in their office, serving as Attorney Mentors, helping students revise their resumes, providing tutoring, practicing interview skills, and much more. All of this happened virtually.
As you already know, 2020 was a challenging year for our students, families, staff, and community. Your flexibility and willingness to show up no matter what the circumstances are truly remarkable. Thank you for demonstrating resiliency and dedication to our students. I cannot imagine a greater group of adults to serve as role models to our more than 300 middle school, high school, and college students. The support that our volunteers have offered to students over that past year continues to inspire me, and it has truly been a silver lining for the Pandemic.
Volunteers affect our students' lives in a big way. Your commitment makes a difference in our community, and we are grateful to you. Thank you for ensuring our students have access to the resources and opportunities they deserve.
As a Board, we have sought to balance a wide range of priorities over the past 13 months. Foremost among those has been investing time, energy and money towards rooting NJ LEEP in anti-racism. You will see and hear far more about this from the staff in the coming weeks, months and years and we look forward to your participation in this work.
Sincerely,
