Notes from the Chamber

Dear Chamber Community,

Every business has a story worth telling - yours included! Maybe it's a new product launch, a milestone anniversary, a new hire, an award, or simply the everyday work you do that makes this community better. The Chamber wants to help you share it. Whether it's a short video we can produce and upload on our website, a feature in The Dorchester Chamber Connection, a shoutout on our Facebook page, or help thinking through how to tell your story to the wider community, we're here for you. You don't have to be a marketing expert - you just have to know your business, and we'll help with the rest.

Do you have news about your business you'd like to share with the community? We'd love to help spread the word. Email us at president@dorchesterchamber.org.

Business After Hours and Ribbon Cutting:

Cambridge Yacht Club

July 1, 2026 - 5:30 p.m.

1 Mill Street, Cambridge, MD

The Cambridge Yacht Club was founded in 1911 and moved to its current home at Winterbottom’s Wharf at the foot of Mill Street in 1937, thanks to a gift from Francis du Pont. The clubhouse was designed by Victorine du Pont Homsey, believed to be one of the first women in the nation to design such a facility. Its award-winning modernist style was inspired by the bridge of the du Pont family yacht, Alicia.

The history of racing excellence on the Choptank continues to this day. This year the Club is excited to announce that Wednesday Night Racing (Keelboats) will now be under the full stewardship of CYC. The club welcomes sailors of all skill levels.

To celebrate, join the Chamber on July 1 for a Business After Hours with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on the Choptank River while the sailboats are out.  Come discover some unique Cambridge history while learning about the CYC’s current activities, including the Admiral Byrd Regatta, annual Log Canoe races, Thursday Night Dinghy Sailing, and the popular Junior Sail Program.

Chilly Billy's Ice Cream cuts ribbon on Cambridge storefront

6a32f52b11aa0 image

CAMBRIDGE — Initially, Bill Hubbard had a dream of operating an ice cream truck.

After a reputable ice cream company declined because they didn’t want their product sold from a mobile trailer, he pivoted and found another business, one more aligned with his values, to help him realize his dreams.

Wednesday, Hubbard’s dreams turned into something even more grand: a new storefront in Cambridge.

The Dorchester Chamber of Commerce celebrated Chilly Billy's Ice Cream's official opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The shop is located at 600 Roslyn Avenue.

Hubbard has a partnership with Frozen Farmer, a company that also began as a food truck and was propelled after signing a deal with Lori Greiner on the television show Shark Tank.

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) in Cambridge, MD. The 90-minute walking campus tour will give you a new perspective on how scientists are conducting research to restore the Chesapeake Bay and you’ll see how individuals and families can take action as stewards and co-restorers of our “national treasure.” Great for adults and children 10 and over. Tours are offered on Tuesdays at 10am from Memorial Day through Labor Day. No pre-registration needed but please email ahead if your group has 5 or more.

Meet at the Coastal Science building lobby.
