City Offices Closed


In observance of the holiday, City Offices will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025. Police services will remain available. City Office hours will resume on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony


The City of Los Alamitos is thrilled to announce the grand unveiling of the newly revitalized Stern's Park on Tuesday, February 18. Come celebrate with us as we mark the completion of this exciting transformation!


Key highlights of the updated park include:

• A fully ADA-accessible playground

designed for children of all abilities 

• A new shade structure with picnic

benches for family-friendly gatherings 

• Energy-efficient lighting illuminating the

park at night 

• Modern exercise equipment suitable for

all ages

Race on the Base


Register now for the UWS Race on the Base! The event features a Reverse Sprint Triathlon and 5K Run/Walk at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos on March 1, 2025. The Reverse Triathlon consists of a 5K run, a 13-mile bike, and a 200-meter swim.

Weekend of Art


CALLING ALL ARTISTS! The Los Alamitos Recreation & Community Services Department and the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Commission are excited to announce the 10th Annual Financial Partners Credit Union Weekend of Art event in Los Alamitos. Mark your calendar and don’t miss this creative and exciting event! 


The exhibition will open to the public on Friday, March 14, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 15, from 12:00-7:00 p.m. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 15 at 6:00 p.m. The event will include an art exhibition for all ages, children’s art activities, arts and crafts booths, live performances, and an awards ceremony. New this year Weekend of Art will be awarding 3 - $300.00 Scholarships to high school students. Be sure to submit today.

The 2025 City of Los Alamitos Spring Recreation online brochure is here now. There are so many new and exciting classes you don’t want to miss!. The MemorialCare Miller Children' s & Women's Hospital Long Beach Scholarships are also available for eligible Los Alamitos residents. 

Youth Track is Back


It’s time to hit the track this Spring with the Los Alamitos Youth Track and Field program at the McAuliffe Middle School Track (4112 W. Cerritos Ave.).


This is a great opportunity for your athlete to enhance their skills in various track and field events and cross-country techniques! Recreation Staff will prepare all athletes to compete in the 50m, 100m, 200m, and long jump events.


4th – 8th-grade athletes will also be trained in 400m, 800m, and 1600m depending on skill level. The last session will feature a track meet!


Session #1 • (1st – 3rd Grade):

4:30 – 5:15 p.m.

 

Session #2 • (4th – 8th Grade):

5:30 – 6:45 p.m.

Youth Soccer


Kick into Spring with the Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department’s Youth Soccer programs! Our soccer programs are designed to introduce athletes to the basic skills of soccer such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense. These are great programs for your athlete to develop and refine their skills. We can’t wait to kick it with you!


Location: Little Cottonwood Park (4000 Farquhar Ave.)



Dates: Saturdays, 4/5 – 5/10

(No Class on 4/19)

9:00 – 9:45 a.m.


Jr. Pee Wee (Ages 4-6)

10:00 – 10:45 a.m.

Pick-up Basketball


Pick-Up Basketball is back on Tuesday nights! Join us for Pick-Up Basketball from 8:30 – 10:00 p.m. at the Oak Middle School Gym (10821 Oak St.) The drop-in price is $5 cash per person. Come solo or bring friends and rotate through games of basketball. Must be at least 18 years old. All skill levels welcome! 

Los Alamitos Aquatics Program


Register now for Winter Session 2! Session 2 of Youth Swim Lessons will start on Monday, February 24, for the Monday/Wednesday session and on Saturday, March 8, for the Saturday session. All Youth Swim Lessons take place at the MWR Aquatic Training Center at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base! Space is limited in some classes, so make sure to register as soon as possible!
