Remembering Ike Wolgin

Ike Wolgin (left) with his partner in life Michelle Pollock at the LGLC Summer Solstice party, June 20, 2025.

The LGLC is deeply saddened by the loss of Ike Wolgin, who passed away September 23. A friend of the LGLC, Ike served as an advisory board member since 2018, and a director from 2009 to 2018.

A conservationist, businessman, and community advocate, Ike carried himself with such integrity and quiet strength that you couldn’t help but feel his impact in many aspects of our work.

While his love for Lake George was undeniable, his vision extended well beyond the lake itself. Ike cared deeply for its people, its future, and the success of our broader region.

He inspired innovation, challenged us to think bigger, and encouraged us to stay true to ourselves and our mission.

Ike’s passing leaves a great void in our community, one that speaks to the depth of his influence and that will be felt for decades to come. We are profoundly grateful for the ways he challenged and inspired us to strive toward our mission. His legacy will continue to guide our work and inspire us to protect what is viscerally important to each of us every day.

Thank You for Joining Amy's Race!

Just one week ago, Amy's Park hosted 73 racers who were cheered on and supported by 23 fabulous volunteers during the LGLC's 9th annual Amy's Adventure Race for the Lake.

The race raised more than $5,000 for land protection within the Lake George watershed. These funds will help keep our momentum moving forward as we continue to fulfill our mission of taking care of lands like Amy’s Park which ultimately protect Lake George. Thank you!

SAVE THE DATE! The 10th Annual Amy’s Race will be October 3, 2026.

Hemlock Heroes Needed for HWA Reporting

Are you a hiker, hunter, or birder? General outdoor enthusiast? Hemlock trees need YOU!

The hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) is an invasive insect threatening the future of our forests. You can help protect hemlocks by spotting signs of HWA and reporting what you see.

While outdoors, check hemlock branches for white, cotton-like spots at the base of the needles. Snap a photo and submit a report.

Your sighting could help save our hemlocks and help keep Lake George's water quality pristine!
