Apostles St. Thaddeus and St. Bartholomew were two of the twelve Apostles of Christ. They were the first apostles of Christ to go to Armenia to preach Christianity, thus deserving the title "the first illuminators.” Still at the dawn of Christianity, they were martyred in Armenia. It was the result of their preaching and martyrdom that the Armenian people, the first nation in the world, proclaimed Christianity as the state religion. Indeed, Apostles St. Thaddeus and St. Bartholomew played an important role in the history of the 2000-year-old Christian Armenian nation which has kept its unshaken faith and keen love towards its Mother Church. Each year a Divine Liturgy is celebrated in the Cathedral of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in the memory of these St. Apostles.

Join us in welcoming author Antonia Arslan, and Professor Siobhan Nash-Marshall as they discuss Ms. Arslan's novella, Silent Angel. Italian writer of Armenian origin Antonia Arslan, and the author of the American translation Siobhan Nash-Marshall, will talk about the book based on a true story that hints at the presence of miraculous grace. Silent Angel is a powerful account of human resilience and heroic faith set against the backdrop of the massacre of Christians during the Armenian Genocide.
