Self-Defence Redefined - The 8 Essential Pillars
In this online presentation, Nancy Gagnon will present a transformative framework, offering an innovative approach to self-defence that includes the notions of self-worth, awareness, discernment, and the ability to manage and prevent violence in all its forms. It also connects personal safety and security to broader dimensions such as legal rights, financial autonomy, and community support. It includes practical tools that deliver immediate, real-world application. As a result, participants will leave with a renewed sense of power, ownership, and the ability to take their place with strength and integrity.
Nancy is a global advocate for human potential and empowerment, especially for women and girls. For over 40 years, she has worked at the intersection of psychology, anthropology, conflict management, and combat, alongside 24 years as a specialist in biomechanics, helping individuals better understand the connection between body, mind, soul through action.
As a 4th Dan (master level) Taekwondo black belt and former Olympic qualifier, Nancy brings a grounded, real-world approach to personal safety and self-defence. She is the author of the book, "Self-Defence Redefined – The 8 Essential Pillars." Her mission is to help individuals recognize their worth, trust their voice, and embody their power—so they can protect and defend themselves, take their place, maximize their potential and contribute to a more just and compassionate world.
Nancy made this presentation last month
in New York at the United Nations.
