BEDS Holds Mobile Vaccine Clinic
Our second COVID-19 vaccination clinic was a success! We were able to vaccinate several people at our mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic last week. The state of Illinois and BEDS Plus Care partnered to bring the mobile clinic to Bridgeview. Those who came to the clinic received the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine. The BEDS Plus Street Outreach team also was onsite to conduct outreach and transport clients to the mobile vaccine clinic. We are happy to do our part in responding to the pandemic.

BEDS Bulletin! Kathryn Reynolds and Abby Boshart of the Urban Institute opined in CNN that more structural and enduring eviction reforms are needed to address longstanding inequities, ensure millions of families have housing stability, and avoid unnecessary costs to households, communities and the nation. They noted that an eviction crisis affected American families long before the pandemic and disproportionately affected women of color and single parents and their children. "The impending end to the national moratorium puts millions of American families at risk of eviction if they cannot access emergency rent relief in time," they wrote. "But this ticking clock shouldn't keep policymakers and local leaders from addressing the broader eviction crisis affecting the country. Long-term solutions are the only way to guarantee every family has a home, not only during a pandemic, but always."
