Chamber-Supported Surfliner Inn
Project Receives Planning Commission Approval
On Monday, October 5, the Carpinteria Planning Commission approved the Surfliner Inn project in a 3-1 vote. The project now moves to the City Council for final approval.
Hospitality and tourism are vital to the local economy, and the Chamber is proud to champion projects like the Surfliner Inn, a 36-room hotel on Linden Avenue. The project fills an important gap in Carpinteria's visitor-serving economy by adding a boutique lodging option. It is expected to increase visitor spending at local shops, restaurants, nonprofits, and attractions while generating much-needed revenue for infrastructure, maintenance, and community services. Together, the sales tax, transient occupancy tax, and ground lease revenue are projected to deliver $1.42 million annually in direct economic benefits to the Carpinteria community.
