ANNUAL TOWN ELECTION

Annual Town Election Day is Tuesday, April 8th. All precincts vote at Reading Memorial High School Field House, 62 Oakland Road. Polls will be open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

In-Person Early Voting will take place at Town Hall for all precincts on the following dates:

  • Saturday - March 29 - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Monday - March 31 - 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Tuesday - April 1 - 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Wednesday - April 2 - 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Thursday - April 3 - 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

PLEASE NOTE: All Mail-In and Absentee Ballots must be received at the Town Clerk’s Office by 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025.

Trash pickup will be delayed one day this week.

TRASH & RECYCLING CART ROLLOUT

Beginning on April 8th, the Town of Reading will roll out new trash and recycling carts to all households currently receiving Town collection. This will include a green 64-gallon trash cart and a blue 96-gallon recycling cart. Seniors (60+) or residents with disabilities shall receive priority and can request a smaller 48-gallon trash cart, a 48-gallon recycling cart, or a 64-gallon recycling cart by contacting the Department of Public Works at 781-439-6930.


Secondary carts may be requested via OpenGov on the Town of Reading website. There will be an associated fee of $200 per year for an additional 64-gallon trash cart, while an additional 96-gallon recycling cart would be no charge. Households will need to begin using their new carts once they receive them. A special curbside collection event for resident’s existing trash and recycling containers will occur this summer on Saturdays starting on July 12th to August 9th where Republic Services will pick up your existing old containers free of charge. KILLAM SCHOOL AND RECAL PROJECT

Stay up to date on the Killam School Building Project by visiting www.KillamSchool.com. On the website, you can explore information about the project team, watch previous meetings, and review detailed site plans!

Join town officials and project leaders as they come together to host two joint forums on the projects coming before the community this Spring: The Killam School Building Project and the Reading Center for Active Living (ReCAL) project. The first forum will be held in-person on Wednesday, April 2 at 7pm at the RMHS Performing Arts Center. The second forum will be held virtually on Zoom on Wednesday April 16 at 7pm. Both forums will cover the Killam School and ReCAL projects and the anticipated financial impact for residents.

OFFICE OF EQUITY & SOCIAL JUSTICE

Albert Pless, Director of Equity and Social Justice, will be hosting office hours at Town Hall in April!

Every Tuesday in April from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon; Plus:

Thursday, April 3rd from 10:00 am to 12 noon,

Thursday, April 10th from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, and

Thursday, April 24th from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

The Department of Public Works is providing a paving update. There will be additional roads added to this list to be resurfaced this summer. The Town of Reading Engineering team is still performing cost estimates to see what the Town can pave with available funding, and we will release those additional streets once known. Updates will be posted to the Road Resurfacing Construction webpage.
