As IMPACT Physical Therapy & Sports Recovery celebrates 10 years of serving the Chicagoland and Champaign communities, we’re reflecting on a decade of helping patients move better, feel better, and return to the activities they love!

Since opening in 2016, our team has delivered personalized, whole-body physical therapy and sports recovery for injuries, post-surgical rehab, chronic pain, workplace strain, and mobility goals at every age. What sets IMPACT apart is our focus on identifying root causes, creating realistic treatment plans, and building long-term strength to prevent future injuries.

We will be celebrating our 10-year milestone all year long as a way to say thank you to the communities, partners, and clients we serve!

If pain or stiffness is holding you back, scheduling a physical therapy evaluation is the first step toward confident, pain-free movement.

Blog: Dry Needling vs. Massage Therapy: Which Works Better for Muscle Pain and Tightness?

Muscle knots, neck stiffness, and lower back pain can slow you down—but the right recovery treatment can make all the difference.

At IMPACT Physical Therapy & Sports Recovery, two of the most effective options we offer are dry needling and massage therapy, each designed to relieve pain and restore movement in different ways.

Massage therapy works from the outside in, improving circulation, reducing muscle tension, and promoting relaxation. It’s ideal for post-workout recovery, general soreness, and stress relief.

Dry needling, performed by licensed physical therapists, targets pain from the inside out by releasing deep trigger points that hands and foam rollers can’t reach—making it especially effective for chronic muscle knots, headaches, and sports-related injuries.

The most powerful approach? Combining both treatments. Our clinicians often use dry needling to release stubborn knots, followed by hands-on manual therapy or massage to improve mobility and speed recovery.

If muscle pain or tightness is holding you back, our expert team will help you decide whether dry needling, massage therapy, or a combination is right for you.

Schedule your appointment today and start feeling better, faster.
