Dear Residents -
I hope this e-newsletter finds you well, despite the arctic temperatures that arrived today and, unfortunately, will be hanging around all weekend.
We are just about done with January and finally received some good news from Governor Cuomo this week. All of Orangetown is finally out of the Yellow Zone. What does this mean for you and your business? As there are a variety of businesses in town, please check out New York State Forward Guidelines and see what is approved for your industry.
Monday, February 1, is the start of Black History Month. To celebrate, the Town Board will be presenting a proclamation and honoring the achievements of an Orangetown resident at the February 9th Town Board meeting. Please be sure to attend or watch on Facebook LIVE.
With the impending snowstorm due to arrive on Sunday, please know that Town Hall will be open as a warming center, beginning tomorrow, Saturday, January 30th through Tuesday, February 2nd. Bathrooms, charging stations and free Wi-Fi will be available to any resident seeking warmth and electricity.
Stay safe everyone - it looks like winter has finally arrived.
Respectfully,
|

Operation Love Our Senior Citizens
|
Valentine’s Day is a day when we show love to those who mean the most to us. From our significant others to our best friends, school friends to colleague’s, family members near and far, this day has turned into a yearly reminder to let the people we love hear it.
This year, nearly a full year of “pausing in place,” the Town of Orangetown is asking you to join us in sending cards to those who could use an extra smile. We’re talking about our elders, a group of well-seasoned, incredible humans who are sometimes forgotten.
Welcome to OPERATION LOVE OUR SENIOR CITIZENS.
The Town will be collecting Valentine’s Day cards through Tuesday, February 9, 2021, for our local seniors to be distributed later that week.
Buy a card or better yet, make a card for a senior citizen, bring it to Town Hall and drop it in the box marked “Operation Love Our Senior Citizens.”
You’ll be very happy you did.
Need some ideas on how to make a card? Visit the following websites:

Help Cure Pediatric Cancer
|
|
“Colors Against Cancer” is a 5K color run that will virtually take place from Sunday, May 16th to Sunday, May 30. Participants will walk/run through their neighborhoods, and record their results virtually.
In previous years, during the run, participants were showered with non-toxic color powders, creating a beautiful rainbow of color. Since we are unable to have everyone together, we will be sharing the recipe on how to make the powdered colors so you can still have the experience! Join your community or create your own team to support the fight against childhood cancer, celebrate childhood cancer survivors, and raise funds for childhood cancer research.
Participants can run, jog or walk! All proceeds raised will be donated to the Taylor Matthews Foundation!
