TIDE Roast 🧯🔥
A few months ago, I asked ChatGPT to roast my LinkedIN profile.
So last night, after watching Kevin Hart's Netflix special, I decide to ask ChatGPT to roast TIDE.
ChatGPT understood the assignment. If you've been to a TIDE event before, you'll enjoy reading it because it's offensively accurate.
If you haven't, then this is your year to experience the TIDE vibes. ✨
...
Let’s roast TIDE for a second.
Because TIDE isn’t a conference anymore.
It’s basically institutional investing’s version of an exclusive music festival for people who use the phrase “private markets exposure.”
Nobody even knows how they got invited.
People receive a TIDE invite like:
“Wait… am I cool now?”
And TIDE attendees act like they’re entering a secret society.
“Are you going to TIDE Lisbon?”
“Will you be at the Mansion Party?”
“Did you get invited to the Lake Como Social?”
Relax.
It’s still finance people discussing infrastructure allocations over spicy margaritas.
TIDE somehow convinced the institutional investment industry that:
sunset cocktails + longevity panels + karaoke + pensions
…all belong together.
And the craziest part?
They were right.
Because apparently nothing closes a relationship faster than singing Journey with a CIO at 11:30 PM.
TIDE events are also the only conferences where people say things like:
“The energy was incredible.”
Energy?
Sir, you sat on a panel called:
“Private Credit Opportunities in a Higher-for-Longer Environment.”
What energy are we discussing exactly?
And TIDE has absolutely mastered financial FOMO.
Half the industry spends all year pretending they don’t care about conferences…
…until they realize they’re not invited to a TIDE event.
Then suddenly:
“Hey Grace! Long time! We should catch up 😊”
That smiley face has raised more capital than some emerging managers.
And the branding kills me.
Other conferences:
“Annual Institutional Investor Forum.”
TIDE:
“Curated rooftop sunset experience.”
“Intentional networking.”
“Human performance activation.”
At this point, TIDE events sound less like finance conferences and more like wealthy people trying to heal emotionally in Portugal.
And can we discuss how everyone at TIDE suddenly becomes hotter?
Same people.
Same LinkedIn profile photos.
But add:
— ocean views
— 6:30 AM yoga
— and GPs & LPs in themed outfits
Suddenly everyone thinks they’re in a Netflix series called:
Too Hot To Allocate.
And nobody works harder at a TIDE event than the attendees pretending they’re “not networking.”
“Oh, I’m just here for the conversations.”
Meanwhile they’ve strategically positioned themselves within arm’s reach of three endowments, two sovereign wealth funds, and somebody from CalPERS.
That’s not mingling.
That’s asset gathering with ambient lighting.

Tingting Peng joins TIDE as Chief Wellbeing Officer, leading the development of wellbeing programming for investment management leaders. Her work with TIDE is rooted in a single conviction: human performance drives financial performance, and human performance starts with wellbeing.
Passionate, curious, and driven by the belief that human performance is the foundation of financial performance, Tingting has spent her career at the intersection of finance leadership, technology, and wellbeing. She holds degrees from MIT and London Business School.
Tingting is also a certified yoga teacher, a hybrid athlete, and a lifelong student of what it means to perform at your best. She brings that practice into every boardroom she enters. At TIDE, she will work with Grace to build wellbeing leadership programming for investment leaders and their organisations. Human capital is the ultimate edge. Tingtingis here to help unlock it.

Actively and Passively Managed Global Listed Infrastructure Mandate Search
The Los Angeles City Employees’ Retirement System (LACERS), a $27 billion public pension fund, is seeking qualified investment management firms to manage up to approximately $550 million in an actively managed global listed infrastructure strategy and up to approximately $800 million in a passively managed global listed infrastructure strategy. Emerging managers are encouraged to participate in this search, subject to LACERS investment policies.
