"It is with deep sadness that I received the news of Rev. Leo Robina graduating into the presence of Our Lord on May 23rd. I have known Leo since 1970, when I worked with youth at Temple Baptist, Los Angeles. Leo had started a worship service for the Latino population and was on staff at Temple Baptist. He had a deep passion for the immigrant population and was very active in inviting the Latino population to encounter the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. From time to time, he would have, in Pershing Square, an open-air music followed by a Christian message. In those days, he used a battery-powered microphone, and my job was to connect the cables to the battery and ensure they stayed connected. He had such a booming voice, and within a few minutes, there was a large crowd listening to Leo. He preached the Gospel, but he also took care of the needs of the immigrant population. He was their shepherd, confidant, and counselor. Soon, the church became one of the largest Latino congregations in Los Angeles, which was later named Ministerios Manantial de Amor. His passion as a Shepherd is what attracted him to the community. For over 40 years, he preached the Gospel in all the seasons of the life of the city of Los Angeles and was a Shepherd after the Heart of God. I shall miss hearing his voice. Rest in Peace from all your labors, my friend, and enjoy the blessings of The Kingdom of God.
