President Report

It is an honour to introduce myself as the newly elected President of the Quad Riders ATV Association of British Columbia (ATVBC).

I would like to welcome our returning and newly elected Board members. I look forward to working with all of you as we continue building a strong future for ATVBC.

ATVBC extends our sincere thanks to outgoing President, Chris D’Silva, for his years of hard work and dedication. Chris has generously given his time and energy to supporting ATVBC, our members, and our affiliated clubs across British Columbia. We deeply appreciate the commitment and personal sacrifices that come with serving as President, and we are grateful for his passion for our riding community. Thank you, Chris, for your years of service and for the lasting contribution you have made to ATVBC. We wish Chris continued success and fulfillment in all his future projects and endeavors.

2026 ATVBC AGM & Jamboree Recap

What a great few days in 108 Mile House!

The 2026 ATVBC AGM & Jamboree brought together approximately 145 members, riders, club representatives, directors and supporters from across the province for several days of riding, connection and ATVBC business.

The AGM also gave members an opportunity to hear updates from the past year, welcome new directors and look ahead to ATVBC’s continued work in advocacy, access, safety, trails and club support.

A huge thank you goes to the 108 ATV Club for hosting this year’s event. After backcountry restrictions were lifted shortly before the Jamboree, their team did an incredible job organizing trail rides on short notice and making sure everyone had a great experience.

Another highlight was seeing five more riders complete ATV and UTV Safety Training during the event, helping us continue to promote safe and responsible riding throughout BC.

Thank you to everyone who travelled to attend, volunteered, participated in the AGM, joined us on the trails and helped make the event possible. And once again, a very special thank you to the 108 ATV Club for being such fantastic hosts!

We’re looking forward to another great year for ATVBC!

ATVBC at UBCM 2026!

Cal and Katherine represented ATVBC at the 2026 Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Convention in Vancouver!

Their attendance is another opportunity to continue ATVBC’s ongoing advocacy for ORV Access into Communities and the work surrounding Resolution B121.

For years, ATVBC has been advocating for a more practical framework that allows rural communities to provide safe, managed ORV access to local roads—helping riders connect from trails to fuel, food, accommodations, businesses and other community amenities.

Resolution B121 was originally supported at UBCM in 2019, and ATVBC has continued to keep this important issue in front of decision-makers while working toward solutions that support rural communities, recreation and tourism.

UBCM brings together local government and First Nations representatives from across B.C. to discuss policy issues and engage with other levels of government, making it an important opportunity to continue these conversations.

Thank you to Cal and Katherine for representing ATVBC and continuing these important conversations on behalf of our members and the ORV community across British Columbia!

BC Rivers Day 2026

Logan Lake ATV Club

The Logan Lake ATV Club had a fantastic turnout for its BC Rivers Day celebration and the official opening of the new bridge over Wyse Creek!

More than 40 people came out to celebrate the new crossing, enjoy some refreshments and recognize the work that went into making this project possible. In fact, the turnout was even better than expected—they ran out of hot dogs!

The new bridge is an important improvement for both recreation and the environment. By providing a proper crossing over Wyse Creek, the bridge will help prevent further erosion of the creek banks while protecting the fish-bearing stream and spawning habitat. At the same time, it supports continued recreational access in the Logan Lake area.

This project is a great example of what can happen through collaboration. A big thank you goes to the Logan Lake ATV Club, Logan Lake Community Forest, Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC), the many contributors involved in the project, and all of the volunteers who helped make it happen.

Special thanks also go to the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC (ORCBC) and BluEarth Renewables for sponsoring refreshments for the BC Rivers Day celebration.

Congratulations to the Logan Lake ATV Club and everyone involved in bringing this project across the finish line. Protecting our waterways while supporting responsible recreation is something worth celebrating!

BC Rivers Day 2026

Kamloops TrailBlazers ATV/SxS Club

On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the Kamloops Trailblazers ATV/SxS Club celebrated the 46th Annual BC Rivers Day with a family-friendly four-hour ride in the Pinantan Lake area, highlighting the recreational, environmental, and economic importance of BC’s rivers.

The ride included 11 machines—8 side-by-sides, 2 ATVs, and 1 three-wheeler—with 13 adults, 3 children, and 1 dog.

Our first stop was Meadows Lookout, where low clouds and a cold morning limited the views. We then continued to a lookout overlooking the Thompson River. Despite very muddy trails and plenty of puddles, the group enjoyed the ride, and the afternoon brought sunshine and much-improved weather.

At the Thompson River lookout, we discussed Leave No Trace, Tread Lightly!, responsible ATV/SxS use, and the importance of respecting streams, rivers, shorelines, and aquatic environments. We also discussed responsible water crossings and the importance of following applicable ORV regulations.

Following the ride, everyone returned to Pinantan Lake for lunch, featuring street tacos and smashed burgers cooked by the Club Vice President. It was a great opportunity to relax, share stories, and enjoy some fellowship after a muddy day on the trails.

Micro-Grant Support

The BC Rivers Day micro-grant helped cover costs associated with the ride and group lunch. The remaining funds will be used to purchase a club tent for future events, providing a reusable resource for the club and its community activities.

The event brought members and families together to enjoy the outdoors, promote responsible recreation, and build greater awareness of protecting BC’s waterways.

Despite the cold, cloudy start, the day ended with sunshine, good company, plenty of mud, and a shared appreciation for our trails, rivers, and outdoor spaces

Rady Creek deactivation sparks B.C. backcountry access fight!

This past Monday, Amber Lane, Executive Director of the British Columbia Snowmobile Federation, and myself, Colin Stuart, had the pleasure of chatting with CTV News regarding our concerns surrounding Rady Creek and the bigger conversation about backcountry access in British Columbia.

Today, that story is out.

“Rady Creek deactivation sparks B.C. backcountry access fight”

What is happening at Rady Creek has become about much more than one Forest Service Road.

Across British Columbia, former industrial roads have become important recreational corridors, providing access for snowmobilers, 4x4 users, ATV riders, hikers, hunters, campers, prospectors and countless others who enjoy B.C.'s backcountry.

When industrial use ends, however, communities can be faced with the possibility of losing that access.

That is the conversation we have been trying to bring forward.

We aren't asking the Province to ignore legitimate environmental, geotechnical or public safety concerns. We're asking for a better process, one that recognizes the recreational value some of these roads have developed before irreversible decisions are made.

Rady Creek has an opportunity to become a test case for how British Columbia handles these situations moving forward.

A huge thank you to CTV News for taking the time to speak with us and helping bring this conversation to a much wider audience.

Please take a few minutes to read and share the story. The more British Columbians who understand what is happening at Rady Creek, the harder it becomes to ignore the bigger question:

What should happen when an industrial road becomes an important public recreation corridor?

Starting this month, every membership renewal is automatically entered into our monthly draw to win an ATVBC hoodie!

Whether you renew a Single or Combo Membership, you'll be entered for your chance to win.

Has your membership already lapsed?

Don't create a new membership through the website. Instead, email us first so we can reactivate your existing membership. Once your renewal payment is complete, you'll be entered into the draw.

Creating a brand-new membership online instead of renewing your existing one means it will be treated as a new membership, not a renewal, and won't be included in our renewal draw.

Stay covered, stay connected, and you might just be sporting a new ATVBC hoodie next month!

BC Budget Committee’s 2026 report reflects strong public calls to invest in outdoor recreation!

The Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services has released its Report on the Budget 2026 Consultation, summarizing what British Columbians told them should be priorities for next year’s provincial budget.

For BC’s growing outdoor community - and the volunteer organizations, Indigenous partners, and non-profits that steward our trails, parks, rivers and recreation sites - the report highlights significant opportunities.

ORCBC commends the Committee for engaging with people and organizations from every corner of the province and ensuring their voices were heard in shaping these recommendations.

Help identify resource roads that matter for outdoor recreation in BC!

Many of BC’s trails, lakes, rivers, cabins, campsites, riding areas, climbing areas, backcountry ski zones and other recreation destinations are reached by resource roads.

A collaboration of provincial recreation organizations has launched the BC Resource Road Access Survey to better understand which roads and road systems are most important for outdoor recreation access, where access is at risk, and what practical solutions may be needed.

The survey is intended for recreation groups, clubs, businesses, local organizations and outdoor users with knowledge of specific resource roads or road systems. You do not need to have perfect information. Local knowledge, best estimates, photos, maps and examples are all helpful.

Please complete one survey for each recreation destination or road system.
