Where Are The Pages Going?

Understanding REAL demand!
We call page consumption (the number of pages printed by each device) the "REAL" demand model. Why is this better than forecasts of cartridge sales, or hardware sales, or OEM vendor reporting of sales? The answer is simple. The lifeblood of the industry is driven by how many pages users print. Not how many printers are purchased, or how many cartridges are sitting in inventory at the dealer or customer site. If you want to know what demand is going to be for your supplies, printers, and MFPS - you have to know how many pages are being printed. It's all about pages - period!
How PAGE pulse works: Virutlytix's unique and proprietary PAGE pulse service uses remote tracking technology to monitor over 50,000 print and copy devices daily (and growing by over 10,000 devices per month) in order to understand how many pages users are actually printing. This isn't an estimate by an analyst, or some 'puffed up' vendor reporting. These are actual pages across a broad range of customers which represent the total market for print and imaging in the office - the core of industry's profit pool.
Example Market Insight - HP's Growing Inventory
Page volume trends provide the best predictive insight into future sales by HP into the channel. As shown in the following graph, our analysis projects that HP's supplies inventories in dealers and end customers locations are growing, which will result in significant supplies sales challenges for HP in the next two to three quarters. The trend for HP's supplies is addressed in a recent Market Flash analysis from Virtulytix PAGEpulse advisory service . The HP market flash can be purchased at this link .

We also track Xerox, Ricoh, Canon, Konica Minolta, and other major vendors.
Unlike vendors or other analysts estimates which are based on how many cartridges are sold into the channel, this service provides actual page consumption trends by the end customer base using data captured directly from over 35,000 printers and copiers. These insights remove the uncertainty associated with vendors channel stocking strategies, channel loading, and other activities that may drive short terms sales - but which don't impact the ultimate consumption of pages (and thus toner and ink cartridges).
