Stallions in the Spotlight

We hope everyone enjoyed our Homecoming Weekend! Special shout-out to the 2026 Homecoming Court for representing their classmates and our school this weekend: Senior Court: Cristopher Diego Garcia Moran, Cameron Howard, Evan Sibley (King), Nuha Ali, Ava Gilmartin (Queen), and Madeline Young; Junior Attendants: Jake Walker and Charlee Noles; Sophomore Attendants: Teddy Bakhshi and Emily Warren; Freshman Attendants: Chantz Eisnaugle and Lucy Wiggins

From October 3–9, a group of DeSales juniors is in New York attending the Salesian Leadership Retreat (SLR) — an opportunity to deepen their relationship with Christ, grow in Salesian holiness, and discover how they can inspire their classmates to do the same. Rooted in St. John Bosco’s vision of the Oratory as a home that welcomes, a playground where friends meet, a school that prepares for life, and a Church that evangelizes, SLR combines prayer, fellowship, reflection, and leadership formation to help young people become faith-filled leaders in their school community. Salesian Leadership Retreats are offered twice each year, in October and March.

Mrs. Shelton, SFD School Counselor, was invited to attend Scholars Day at The Pennsylvania State University, along with a select group of counselors from across the country, to learn about their Schreyer Honors College.

Congratulations to freshmen Juliet Bakhshi and Nico Wetzel, who were recently elected as the Class of 2030 President and Vice President, respectively.

Today we welcomed Mrs. Laurie Mannion as our first Lunch and Learn guest speaker for the 2026-27 school year. She spoke to students about her work as an attorney, serving as the Division Chief of Health and Human Services at the Ohio Legislative Service Commission. Laurie and her husband Brian '87 are proud parents of four children, three of whom graduated from DeSales: Andrew '17, Caroline '19, and Joseph '24.

Spiritual Reflection

Good and gracious God, your Word opens our minds and hearts. Each day we strive to live your Word. Help us to listen to your Son, to trust in his healing power. Never abandon us in time of suffering and loss. Bring us your comfort and assurance. Like Martha, may we turn to your Son in our time of need, and find comfort in his presence. We ask this in his name. Amen.
