ST. NERSESS ARMENIAN SEMINARY
Ս. ՆԵՐՍԷՍ ԸՆԾԱՅԱՐԱՆ
Preparing Leaders for Service in the Armenian Church since 1961
Dean Travels to Charlotte, NC

On January 22, Fr. Mardiros Chevian, dean, was the guest celebrant and homilist at the St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Charlotte, NC. In his message, he reflected on the importance of sharing God’s love with others. Joining him on the altar was seminarian Dn. Serop Krajekian, a St. Nersess seminarian and parishioner of St. Sarkis.

Following Badarak and during fellowship, Der Mardiros presented the mission of St. Nersess Seminary and shared the 12 Vocations video with the parish community. He encouraged the youth to attend the summer conferences and answered the parishioner's questions.

“I would like to thank Fr. Mardiros for his weekend visit to celebrate Badarak at St.Sarkis in Charlotte and to spend some time with our parishioners,” commented Dn. Serop. While there, Der Hayr also spent time visiting with Diratzoo Serop’s family.
Used SUV Needed at Seminary

St. Nersess is looking for a used SUV to meet its transportation needs. One of our cars recently became too expensive to repair.

If you or someone you know has an SUV in good working condition, the seminary will gladly accept your donation! A letter will be provided for tax purposes. Please call the office at 914-273-0200 or email info@stnersess.edu.
St. Nersess Spring Semester Zoom Public Lecture Series Starts Thursday, February 2!

“An Introduction to Medieval Armenian Poetry, Part 2", with Dr. Jesse Arlen

This two-semester public lecture series introduces the public to the medieval Armenian poetic tradition.

In the Fall 2022, Part 1 was offered. It consisted of six lectures and included material on sharagans (hymns), taghs (odes), and other genres of sacred liturgical song, biblical epic, penitential poetry, and laments composed after the capture of cities.

This Spring 2023, Part 2 will offer six lectures and will survey lyrical love and wisdom poetry and other texts such as riddles written in Middle Armenian, a form of the language closer to the spoken vernacular of the time.

Please join us on the following Thursday evenings: February 2, 9, 16 and 23, March 2 and 9.

All sessions are offered on Zoom from 7 PM - 8 PM. To register, click here.
Every day, with prayer and renewed commitment, we carry out our mission of preparing the next generation of priests and lay ministers through classroom instruction, spiritual direction, worship services, and hands-on training. The education our students receive at St. Nersess impacts the Armenian Church of America and beyond. We also support part-time distance learners and students conducting research at other universities.

During the summer months, our center of learning brings young people together from the Eastern and Western Dioceses at our Deacons’ Training Programs, High School Summer Conference, and our newly launched Youth Choir Workshop. These programs continue to provide inspiration to today’s youth who will become our parish and community leaders.

Additionally, our online public lecture series and clergy continuing education workshops deliver information and support to our community members and new and seasoned clergy.

You make all this possible because of your thoughtful, dedicated support. We are grateful for your confidence in our work and mission. Thank you for making the education and training of our seminarians a part of your charitable giving.

Your donation, in any amount, makes all the difference. Thank you for your continued support by donating today.
