Take a Virtual Ride Down Miner's Mile

Miner's Mile, the newest stretch of leisure trail in the Sea Pines Forest Preserve, officially opened in early May. If you haven't had a chance to visit yet, you can preview the whole route before you head out.

David Henderson, Director of Forest Preserve and Natural Resources, rode the length of the new 1-mile leisure trail, capturing the route end to end. The footage has been sped up, so the whole trip takes just a couple of minutes to watch! Take a quick look at what's now available to walkers, joggers, and cyclists. Watch the ride here.

Alligator activity increases during the warmer months, which means sightings are more common this time of year. Please share these guidelines with your family, houseguests, and rental guests.

Important Safety Tips Regarding Alligators in Sea Pines:

  • Assume every body of water contains an alligator
  • Stay at least 60 feet (4 car lengths) away from alligators
  • Alligators are ambush predators and can move faster than you or your pets
  • Keep yourself, pets, and children away from the water's edge
  • Swimming or wading is prohibited in Sea Pines' waterways
  • Feeding or harassing alligators is dangerous and illegal
  • When fishing or crabbing, do not throw used bait or fish parts into the water
