🚨 Looking for Love Online? Watch for These Romance Scam Red Flags 🚨

Homeland Security Investigations warns that romance scammers build trust online and then use that relationship to steal money or sensitive information.

Warning signs include someone who quickly professes love, gives inconsistent stories, repeatedly avoids clear video calls, or pressures you to move conversations away from a dating platform.

Scammers may also use fake or AI-generated photos to make their profiles more convincing.

One of the biggest red flags comes when your new online relationship turns into a request for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, financial information, or investment help.

HSI recommends going slowly, asking questions, researching the person’s photos and profile, and never sending money or cryptocurrency to someone you have only communicated with online or by phone.

The Cool Tip:

If an online romance starts moving unusually fast or suddenly involves your money, stop and talk with someone you trust before taking the relationship any further.

And in Other News...

  • Epic Just “Vibe Coded” Its New Games Launcher

Epic Games has unveiled a faster, redesigned Epic Games Launcher, but the most surprising detail is how the company says it built it.

The Epic Games Store Team says it “vibe coded” the new launcher, a term commonly associated with using AI to help turn natural-language instructions into working code.

The Preview promises faster startups, snappier navigation, lower background system load, and improved tools for organizing games and monitoring downloads.

It is available for testing on Windows, macOS, and, for the first time, Linux.

Epic Games cautions that the launcher is still a Preview, so users may encounter issues while testing it.

The Cool Tip:

Epic Games’ experiment shows just how far vibe coding has come, with AI-assisted development now being used to help create software that millions of consumers could eventually use.

Cloudhiker: Find Fascinating Websites You Never Knew Existed

Cloudhiker introduces you to unusual websites that a human has reviewed and selected.

Explore a favorite subject, save useful discoveries, and take a more interesting break from your usual feeds.

You open your browser for a quick break and visit the same familiar sites.

There is plenty to read, but very little feels unexpected.

Cloudhiker gives that routine a welcome detour, introducing you to websites you might never think to search for.

Here’s a Cool Tip: Use Cloudhiker to discover interesting websites beyond your everyday browsing routine.

Feature Explanation

Cloudhiker is a website discovery service created by Kevin Woblick.

People suggest websites, and he reviews them before adding them to the collection.

You receive random selections from that collection instead of a feed ranked by popularity.

Search works well when you know what you need. Cloudhiker is useful when you want to discover something you did not know existed.

This established service brings attention to independent websites, unusual projects, and creative experiments that can be easy to miss during everyday browsing.

What You’ll Gain

  • Find inspiration outside your familiar sources.
  • Give short browsing breaks a sense of discovery.
  • Build a personal list of websites worth revisiting.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Here's how to do it.

Web/Desktop:

  1. Go to Cloudhiker at Cloudhiker.net.
  2. Select "Take me to one" to go to a new website.
  3. Explore the website.
  4. To visit a new website, click "Next Site" at the top menu bar.
  5. For more features, Select "Menu" and "Register" or "Log In".

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • A simple starting point when you have no search terms in mind.
  • Human review helps distinguish the collection from an unrestricted random-link generator.
  • Useful for creative breaks, personal learning, and finding fresh references.
  • Browser bookmarks let you keep discoveries in your existing workflow.

Cons:

  • Random browsing can take more time than you intended.
  • Not every destination will match your interests.
  • Cloudhiker’s exploration history and built-in Back Button require Premium.

Who Should Skip This

Skip it when you need a specific answer on a deadline. A search engine or trusted reference will be more efficient.

Cloudhiker’s terms require users to be at least 18, so it should not be recommended as an independent browsing activity for children.

Real-World Examples

  • Creators: A designer could browse for unfamiliar approaches to color, interaction, or storytelling, then record what makes a discovery effective.
  • Educators: A teacher could scout potential lesson resources independently, assess them, and share appropriate destination links with students.
  • Professionals: A small-business owner could use a short exploration break to gather ideas for a website or customer newsletter.

Troubleshooting and Limitations

Problem: Results feel too broad.

  • Why it happens: You may have selected a wide range of interests or left all categories unselected.
  • Fix or workaround: Narrow your interests through Change your Categories.

Problem: You cannot retrieve a previous discovery.

  • Why it happens: Cloudhiker reserves its exploration history and Back Button for Premium.
  • Fix or workaround: Bookmark promising destinations before moving on.

Problem: A destination fails to load.

  • Why it happens: The destination may be temporarily unavailable.
  • Fix or workaround: Try another site, and use Cloudhiker’s FAQ contact details to report a persistent problem.

Privacy and Data Notes

Cloudhiker’s privacy policy says its server logs may include your IP address, browser details, pages accessed on its service, and visit times.

Discovered websites have their own data practices.

You can try basic exploration without registering.

Browser bookmarks may sync through your browser account, depending on its settings.

Feature Access

  • Basic exploration is free and does not require an account; free accounts support additional participation. Premium removes Cloudhiker’s ads and adds unlimited Collections and 90-day exploration history. History recording starts when your subscription begins.
  • The published Standard plan permits three Collections with up to 50 sites each.
  • The optional Chrome extension requires an account, and its store description still calls it a testing release. Start with the website for this tip.

Score

Criterion |  Score (0–10) |  Justification
Value |  7
Useful for inspiration and enjoyable breaks, with less value for focused research.
Usability |  8
The browsing process is straightforward. Bookmarking useful finds takes an extra step.
Wow Factor |  8
An unexpected destination can make ordinary browsing interesting again.
Total: 23/30 | 👍 Good
Especially for curious adults who enjoy discovering things without a plan.
The experience recalls StumbleUpon, while traditional search engines remain the better choice when you have a specific question.

  • Follow Curiosity: Give unfamiliar subjects a chance to surprise you. Begin with a topic you rarely read about.

  • Pick a Mood: Match your exploration to the kind of break you want. Decide whether you want inspiration, learning, or entertainment before starting.

  • Look Longer: Give an unusual project enough attention to understand its purpose. Read its introductory text before deciding to move on.

  • Capture Ideas: Turn an interesting discovery into a useful creative prompt. Write down one idea it suggests for your own work.

  • Save Immediately: Keep a promising discovery before moving on. Bookmark the destination itself while it is still open.

  • Name Clearly: Make your discoveries easier to sort. Create a browser bookmark folder with a specific name such as “Creative References.”

  • Set a Limit: Keep a pleasant break from consuming your afternoon. Start a short timer before you begin exploring.

  • Share Directly: Help someone reach the discovery you actually mean. Copy the destination website’s own URL when sending it to a friend.

  • Check the Fit: Evaluate a discovery before relying on it for work. Read its About page and check its claims against an appropriate independent source.
