SUPPORTING POSITIVE SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SKILLS

Pyramid Model Framework

Using Visuals to Support Children in the Early Learning Environment

Visual supports can help children learn new skills and prevent challenging behavior. Visuals help young children learn and follow routines by helping them understand what is happening “now” and what is going to happen “next.” Visuals serve as reminders for verbal directions and help children know exactly what is expected of them. Use the included visual cue cards and templates to develop visual supports.

Pyramid Model Support: Visual Schedule Tips

We all use a schedule! Your children may benefit from using one as well. Join Pyramid US Consultant, Jesseca Collins, M.Ed., BCBA as she discusses some options for using a visual schedule in your learning environment.

Just a couple of resources that can be found on:

ANSWER to POLL QUESTION

The correct answer is “c”.

A Local Determination Report is formally known as Local Early Intervention System (LEIS) Monitoring Results & Determination. It is a yearly report card reflecting local results on Virginia’s Monitoring Indicators resulting in a determination of Meets Requirements, Needs Assistance, Needs Intervention or Needs Substantial Intervention. To learn more about Determination Reports, review the recording from October’s Monitoring Community of Practice.

Final determination reports were sent to localities at the end of September. To learn about your local system’s results, contact the Local System Manager. Analyzing your local system’s results will help you determine how you can support your local system in providing quality services to children and families.
