Celebrating our Kehillah High Teens

Kehillah High, our Jewish education program for students in grades 8-12, marked its 11th graduation ceremony celebrating a program that has seen almost 200 graduates since its inception in 2015. Teen Eden Harris shared that Kehillah High moved her from feeling disconnected after her bat mitzvah to embracing Jewish life with confidence and curiosity. Read more about the evening here. 

Brandon Sorkin received the Teen Impact Award. Sorkin founded the Teen Leadership Council, an initiative that brings together teen leaders from across Houston’s synagogues, camps, and youth organizations. Watch this new video to hear directly from teens about the impact of Kehillah High.

May is Jewish Heritage Month

Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) recognizes Jewish contributions to American culture, history, military, science, government, and more. In 2006, President George W. Bush proclaimed May as Jewish American Heritage Month, and it has been observed every year since! Our partner, Texas Holocaust Genocide and Antisemitism Advisory Commission’s website points to resources you may find helpful, including robust resources for educators.

Splash into Summer with PJ Library

Splashpad Foam Party Playdate on Sunday, May 17:

Right Start: Apply Now for 2026-27 School Year

Still deciding if a Jewish early childhood program is right for your family? Let us help! Applications are open for Marvin Barish Right Start for the upcoming school year. Since its launch in 2022–2023, Right Start has helped make Jewish early childhood education more accessible with vouchers ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 for families enrolling their first child in a program for the first time. Right Start has grown from 73 new students receiving $126,500 in vouchers in the first year, to 162 new students across nine schools receiving $311,500 in the 2025–2026 school year. By easing financial barriers, the program is strengthening enrollment pipelines and deepening connections between young families and Jewish Houston. Learn more and apply now for the upcoming school year.
