Call for SLYC Tennis Volunteers

February 6, 2024

Greetings, Stony Lakers!

A much belated Happy New Year to you and yours. With January now under our belts, the countdown to Summer 2024 is on for real!

To add to this momentum, we’ve got a couple of exciting tennis updates for you. And we’ll be back in touch soon with our annual SLYC membership survey.

All the best,

Your SLYC Board of Directors

Introducing Claudia Voicu, Our New Head Tennis Pro!

We are delighted to announce that Claudia Voicu will be joining us at Stony this summer as our new Head Tennis Professional.

Claudia is certified by the TPA (Tennis Professionals Association) as a Club Pro 2 with 11 years of experience. She moved to Canada from Romania at the age of 12 and played her competitive junior tennis in Toronto. Claudia was a top 10 ranked junior in Ontario through the early part of her tennis career and received a tennis scholarship to Olivet Nazarene University in Chicago, competing in the NAIA division. After she graduated with a communications and journalism degree, Claudia returned to Canada to pursue her passion of teaching tennis.

With her strong playing background and positive energy, Claudia will be a great asset to the SLYC tennis and pickleball program. Over the past 10 years she has been highly involved in a wide range of coaching, from young juniors to adults keen to learn the game. She is passionate about the game and making others fall in love with the sport that has given her so much.

Off the court, Claudia loves to spend time in nature and is a mother of two little girls, Diana and Mila, and her first “child”/dog, Marley. She looks forward to meeting our SLYC members and joining our awesome community.

Please join us in welcoming Claudia! We can’t wait to see her — and all of you — on the courts!

Warmly,

Alex Brooks-Hill & Jody Scotchmer
