People are STILL Skiing, and it is great to see!!

But Grooming will officially wrap up

I have said it before, it has been one of those winters. Plenty of ups and downs, some great days, some tough ones, and a lot of creativity from the grooming team just to keep things going. That said, we really did finish strong. March delivered, and the fact that we were still grooming into April says a lot about the work that went in behind the scenes.

With the current weather and snow conditions, we are officially wrapping up grooming operations for the season. That does not mean skiing is done. If anything, spring skiing has its own rhythm. The snow is starting to do a bit of the work for us now.

As we mentioned last week, mornings will be firm and a bit icy. Give it some time and things soften up nicely through the late morning and early afternoon. Wait too long and it turns into that classic wet, heavy snow. Then it cools off overnight and the cycle starts all over again.

There is still skiing to be had if you time it right. You will start to see some patches opening up here and there, and a bit of walking may be part of the experience before long. That is just part of spring.

I know a lot of us are not quite ready to call it yet, so get out there when it makes sense, pick your window, and ski safe.

Thanks for sticking with us through a challenging season. It was not always easy, but it was still a good one.

Rental Shop Office Hours:

We are Winding Down

As a reminder, Aaron will be around the lodge from 9:00am–4:00pm over the next little while as he works through the annual spring shutdown. There is always plenty to do this time of year—cleaning things up, packing things away, and getting everything set for the off-season.

If you are out for a ski, a walk, or just passing through, feel free to stop in and say hi… or bother him as much as you would like. He will say he is busy, but he does appreciate the company. Also, if you have any missing items from the season, come and check out the lost and found to see if we have it. There are some pretty nice items in there.

Also a note that the Rental Shop will officially be closing for the season on April 30. If you have anything to return or need to connect with us before then, make sure to swing by before we lock things up..

Bike Program Registration is OPEN!

We are still holding onto ski season, but bike season is not far off.

Registration is open for both our Spring Sessions and Summer Bike Camps, and things are filling up fast. At this point, we are down to just three weeks of summer camps with space remaining, and those will not last long.

These programs are all about getting kids outside, building confidence, and having fun on their bikes. Whether they are just getting started or already comfortable on the trails, our coaches do a great job of meeting riders where they are at and helping them progress. We focus on the fundamentals, mix in plenty of games, and keep groups organized so everyone has a great experience.

Register now to get in before those last spots are gone.

Cross Country Ski Area Association Annual Conference

Last week, myself, Aaron and Peter attended the Cross Country Ski Areas Association Annual Conference hosted in Canmore, AB and it was a great opportunity to connect with clubs from across Canada and the US and learn from others in the industry.

A big thank you to Tourism Prince George for the financial support to attend—this kind of opportunity makes a real difference for our club.

Throughout the conference, we explored a wide range of topics including grooming techniques and equipment, snowmaking systems and strategies, snow storage, climate trends and forecasting, staff training, safety and risk management, land use and relationships with neighbouring landowners, membership and pricing models, non-profit operations, dog-friendly trail management, and emerging technologies like snow depth tracking and trail reporting tools.

There were a lot of great conversations and ideas shared, and we took away a great deal that we can bring back and apply as we continue to adapt, improve, and grow what we offer at Caledonia Nordic Ski Club.
