Connection, Community, and Mental Health for Everyone
| |
As we move into summer, June gives us many opportunities to continue important conversations about mental health, connection, and community support. This month, we’re excited to welcome new leadership to NAMI Fond du Lac County, invite you to our June Togetherness Event, and recognize both Men’s Mental Health Month and Pride Month.
Whether you’ve attended an event, shared one of our posts, volunteered your time, or simply followed along with us this year — thank you for helping us build a more connected and compassionate community.

Guided Meditation Nature Walk Through Hobbs Woods
Join NAMI Fond du Lac County this month for a calming evening focused on mindfulness, movement, and connection in nature.
Our June Togetherness Event will begin with a brief guided grounding and meditation exercise before participants enjoy a peaceful walk through Hobbs Woods at their own pace. Attendees are welcome to walk quietly, connect with others, or even bring headphones to listen to calming music or meditations during the walk.
We hope you’ll join us for an evening of fresh air, reflection, and connection.

Our monthly Togetherness Events are designed to create safe, welcoming spaces where people can:
- Build social connection
- Engage in positive activities
- Learn about mental health in approachable ways
- Connect with local resources
Because no one should have to navigate mental health alone.
If you're interested in partnering with us for a future Togetherness Event, please reach out to Kim, our Grant & Fundraising Coordinator, at kimmiller@namifonddulac.org
| | June is Men's Mental Health Month | |
Men’s Mental Health Month serves as an important reminder that mental health affects everyone — and that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Many men grow up hearing messages that they should “tough it out,” stay silent about emotions, or handle challenges alone. Unfortunately, stigma and societal expectations can make it harder for men to reach out for support when they are struggling.
The reality is:
- Men experience depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress too.
- Many men struggle in silence.
- Suicide rates among men remain significantly high.
- Connection and support save lives.
Checking in with friends, talking openly about mental health, prioritizing self-care, and reaching out for professional support when needed are all important steps toward wellness.
If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available — and no one has to face things alone.
| Pride Month and Mental Health | |
June is also Pride Month — a time to celebrate identity, authenticity, resilience, and community while continuing conversations about mental health and inclusion.
LGBTQ+ individuals often face unique stressors, including stigma, discrimination, rejection, and barriers to support, which can significantly impact mental health.
Safe spaces, supportive relationships, and affirming communities matter.
At NAMI Fond du Lac County, we believe everyone deserves access to compassionate mental health support and a community where they feel seen, respected, and valued.
This month and every month, we encourage kindness, acceptance, and continued learning as we work toward a more supportive community for all.

Build Small Moments of Connection
Mental wellness is not only about managing stress — it’s also about creating connection.
Simple moments can make a meaningful difference:
- Sending a quick text to check on someone
- Taking a walk with a friend
- Sharing a meal together
- Attending a community event
- Talking openly about how you’re feeling
Connection helps reduce isolation, increases support, and reminds us that we are not alone.

May was a busy and meaningful month for NAMI Fond du Lac County as we worked to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and bring people together during Mental Health Awareness Month.
Mental Health Awareness Month Presentation
We were grateful to welcome community members to our presentation, "What Do You Mean My Family's Not Normal?" This engaging discussion explored family dynamics, communication patterns, and how our experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped create a space for learning, reflection, and conversation about mental health.

Goat Yoga Togetherness Event
We also had an incredible time at our May Togetherness Event, Goat Yoga at LaClare Creamery. Participants enjoyed a unique opportunity to practice mindfulness, movement, laughter, and connection—all with a few curious goats joining in along the way! Events like these remind us that supporting mental wellness can be fun, accessible, and rooted in community.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success. We'd also like to give a HUGE thank you to LaClare Creamery for partnering with us for this event.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we shared 31 days of mental wellness skills and self-care strategies on social media, offering simple, practical ways to support emotional wellbeing. Thank you to everyone who followed along, engaged with the posts, and shared them with others. If you missed any of the daily skills—or would like a refresher—we encourage you to visit our Facebook page and explore the posts from May for ideas you can incorporate into your daily life throughout the year.
