New and Expanding Resources Available to Support Students

Increasing support for a student’s well-being is an important student success initiative. UW-Parkside, with the support of the Universities of Wisconsin, has expanded its collaboration with Mantra Health.  In addition to virtual therapy, psychiatry and 24/ 7 crisis support, the Care Hub by Mantra will also provide short-term wellness coaching and, in the moment, support called Connect Now.  For more information on the Care hub by Mantra, click here.

Other resources to support student wellbeing include:

FREE, Anonymous, 24/7 virtual peer-to-peer support. A safe place where students can connect with others about what’s going on in their lives – big or small.  Togetherall is moderated by clinical professionals.

YOU can help students find information on a variety of topics such as managing stress or time management, setting goals, and connecting with campus resources.

Finally, students can tell us they need additional support through the Handraise feature on the Navigate app.

We have also simplified our Mental Health and Counseling website to make it easier for students to find the resources they need.

Please help us raise awareness of these resources and normalize “help-seeking" behavior by mentioning this in your classrooms or in individual appointments with students.

If you have any questions, please contact Renee Kirby, Director of Student Health, Counseling, and Accessibility Services, or Steve Wallner, Dean of Students.

Early Alert Campaign Timeline

Early Intervention can change the outcome of a student’s semester.  Please help us better support students through Navigate Early Alerts. You can report concerns or send positive kudos in Navigate through the targeted Progress Report Campaigns or the ADHOC report.

The following Targeted Progress report campaigns will be sent:

Timing  Type  Week 1 Attendance Week 5 Academic Progress  Week 6 Athlete Academic Progress  Week 9 Math 100 Academic Progress

Please close each individual request even if you have no feedback.

If you have a concern about an undergraduate student that you did not receive a request on or if the concern develops later in the semester, please use the ADHOC report. You can use this report to report both academic and non- academic concerns.

Did You Know?

   1. Students approved for exam/quiz accommodations should take the exam at the same time or at least the same day as their peers.

   2. Students must schedule exams/quizzes in Accommodate 48 hours in advance (excluding Saturday and Sunday).

   3. The testing area is never full- if a student reports they cannot schedule for the same day, they waited too long to schedule in Accommodate.

   4. Students should obtain the instructor’s permission before scheduling an alternate day or time with SAS.

   5. Instructors will get an automated email alert when a student schedules their exams/quizzes. This would be an opportune time to verify if it’s scheduled per your expectations.

   6. SAS sends an email reminder with a cover sheet two days prior to the exam date. You don’t have to wait for the reminder to send the exam.

   7. If a student misses an exam, it’s up to the instructor to determine when the student will reschedule. The instructor should email sas@uwp.edu and the student with a new day of retake.

As the semester progresses, you may notice that students may be more stressed, experiencing more academic difficulties or having non-academic challenges.

Here is a quick reminder about the resources available to assist you:
