Thursday, May 11th 2023: Everybody's Slurpee-in' For The Weekend Edition

Phone: 204-487-4263

With the long battle against winter coming to an end, your supplies have been dwindling drastically, so your adventuring party decides to look for the nearest settlement. You succeed in your Knowledge check and remember that there's a thriving town not so far away where two rivers meet. You find and follow one of the rivers and arrive safely at the town.

The town is finally starting to green, buds appearing on the trees and the winter grit being swept up, but the roads are pocked with deep holes. It appears that they've faced the same battles you have. The inhabitants seem cheerful and welcoming and thankful for the return of the sun and the spring growth. A good many of them seem to be happily slurping a beverage that appears to be a mixture of sweet syrup and what looks like snow. Take that, winter!

You ask around for directions to a marketplace where you can stock up and are directed to a small castle located near a graveyard. You glance briefly at the sign board outside -- no time for ghosts and goblins until after your shopping excursion -- and head inside. The market is much bigger on the inside than the outside suggested and is filled with wonderous things.

You are greeted by the friendly shopkeep. "Hello and welcome! Is there anything that catches your eye?" There are, in fact, many things that catch your eye...

Product Feature: Reaper Miniatures!

The birds are chirping, the snow has melted, and we've finally ordered Reaper miniatures and paints again! We've expanded our offerings with the Reaper USA Dungeon Dwellers and restocked and expanded the popular Reaper Bones line.

If you think you know Reaper, you might want to come by and take an updated peek. The Bones USA injection molding process has resulted in some truly crispy edges and astonishingly beautiful miniatures.

There was a decent amount of, "Whoa!" happening while we were picking through the new stock.

No more soft, white plastic for the new lines. The updated miniatures are all a mid-range grey, making it easier to see just what it is you're looking at, and they've broken up some of the more complicated models so that they fit better in their temporary homes. Gone are the days of the noodle-sworded warrior!

This does mean that you'll need to grab some Super Glue. (Don't worry, it's been ordered!)

We've expanded the line with over 50 new or updated miniatures added to the wall since the last time we ordered.

As always, they're arranged by number to make it easier for us, but if you wanted to take a quick peek at what's new, the Dungeon Dweller line is towards the window along the Reaper Miniatures wall and the new Bones and USA minis will be towards the bottom of the larger Reaper miniatures wall!

After a long, bleak, picked-over winter, we're thrilled to bits with all of our new Reaper miniatures offerings, and we're confident that you will be, too. Come check them out and let us dazzle you.

Games of the Week: Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza and Qwirkle Cubes

Adorable! Fast! Easy! Yelly!

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza!

In this adorable, fast, family-friendly snap game, you distribute the cards evenly among the players. Then one by one, the players play the cards into a communal pile, chanting Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza (one word per card) as the cards are played.

If, when a card is placed, it matches with the word chanted (ie, you say, "Taco" and the card placed is a taco card), everyone slaps their hands on the pile and the last player to slap takes all of the cards.

First player to play all of the cards in their hand wins.

See? Easy!

Qwirkle Cubes! It's just like Qwirkle, but with extra steps that make it extra difficult to suss out your opponent's strategy!

Instead of drawing tiles, you draw cubes with the different symbols on their faces. (The colours of the symbols are uniform for the cube.) You have the option of rolling as many of the cubes in your hand as you want at the start of your turn, but the objective is the same as Qwirkle: make rows of either the same colour or unique symbols.

The game ends when one player has used up all of the cubes in their hand and WINS.

It has that in common with Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza.

ALSO in common, both of these games are 20% off for a two-punch Game of the Week from Friday, May 12th to Thursday, May 18th! Get them while we have them.

Upcoming Event: Hobby Workshop - Here There Be Dragons

Weekly Poll

Should I do a poll this week?
Yes.
No.

WIth a WHOPP(ER)ING 84.1% of respondents picked BURGERS over hot dogs.

Sorry, hot dogs.

And ONE respondent selected "Neither" with no DIscord follow-up.

Interesting! I'm envisioning a classy plate of garlic butter shrimp kebobs al fresco. Maybe on a bed of lemon pilaf...

Yummy...
