Week Seven: “God is God of all”
This weekend we remember and honor the Saints who have passed from this life to the next life with God. We conclude our Bearing Witness series with the theme "Who are we to hinder God?"
As human beings, we are rooted in our past. Our upbringing, our traditions, our sense of place provide grounding for us. Our past and traditions can also hold us back. In our readings this week, we encounter Peter, who recently had his traditional ideas challenged and transformed, in front of his peers, sharing his transformation story to expand God’s kingdom. His peers are reluctant. Peter also goes back to leaning on his traditional ways as the Holy Spirit continues to support his transformation.
We also see Jesus provide an example of transformation from what was to what is and what can be in his interaction with the Canaanite woman.
The question for us is how we may be preventing transformations that Holy Spirit is initiating in our lives. Our resistance to the work of God may not be obvious or even intentional. Pray that we can follow God’s will for our transformation.
