Greetings!
So, how you are riding the collective waves of oceanic emotions this month so far? Well, one down, two to go. We had the solar eclipse in Aries ten days ago but now the influence of the Taurus/Scorpio lunar eclipse is emerging big time. What is making this particular eclipse more intense than usual is that it is riding shotgun with Mercury in Taurus moving ever so slowly backward and Uranus, the lightning bolt planet of radical change also in Taurus in a tight opposition with the moon at 15 degrees on Friday May 5th. Personally, I would avoid going to any Mexican restaurants or bars on Cinco De Mayo this year. Celebrate at home with tequila or a great veggie juice! Lunar eclipses have a six week influence, typically, three weeks before and three weeks after.
The archetypes of Taurus and Scorpio embody our relationship with the material, physical, and sensual world. It asks of us to examine what passion really means. Harvey Weinstein embodies the worst of Scorpio with his Mars conjunct the ascendant in Scorpio and cold Capricorn moon. In my last newsletter, I shared that the cardinal signs of Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn would be most affected by the solar eclipse and not just the sun signs ( ascendant, moon, Venus, and Mars too). This month it is the fixed signs of Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio, and Taurus that are feeling the death and transformation aspects of this lunar eclipse. As you can see, these eclipses affect just about everyone directly or indirectly, if you live or work with someone going through this upheaval.
It is no wonder that Donald Trump's rape trial has fallen at this time as well. Further, Joe Biden has four planets in Scorpio and one in Taurus. I see some tough stuff hitting his brain this summer not to mention this eclipse coming up, with Uranus coming into opposition with his Mercury, end of June and then again around election time. For someone his age, that can mean a stroke. I will share more on his chart in a future newsletter.
But I digress. To get back to us, if we are not engaged in work or a life that feels purpose filled, then food, sex, love, social media, or substances that give us a dopamine high become more compelling or compulsive. The energy of Taurus is rather slow moving and slow to change but this can be a good thing for the month of May. Examining what we turn to outwardly instead of to our soul for sustenance is the work of this eclipse. To borrow from AA, asking one's higher self for help in healing those earthly attachments that are making life unmanageable is the call for all of humanity right now. Obesity alone is having catastrophic effects on both the collective health and the environment itself. In my new book coming out in the Fall, I gathered some rather alarming stats on the rates of both breast and colon cancer increasing, with clinicians extrapolating that there is a connection with obesity on the rise as well.
Mother Earth is ruled by Taurus. How we use or overuse her resources is something for us all to contemplate. Speaking of extrapolating, I strongly recommend seeing the new climate change docudrama series Extrapolations on Apple Tv with Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Edward Norton, and several other stars. It has been given great reviews.
The Youngest Screenplay Writer to Ever Win an Oscar
I watched Good Will Hunting on Amazon Prime for the first time in 25 years and paid more attention to the script this time because I saw it originally before it won the Oscar in 1998 for best original screen play. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon co-wrote the script. Ben was 22 when he won. This film is brilliant and so moving. Robin Williams knocked it out of the park. Ben is a sun sign Leo with a Scorpio moon with Uranus coming into square with his sun this summer. Be careful, Ben. You could be accident prone and/or fall off the sobriety wagon. At the very least, he is being called by Uranus to break out and rebel, take a stand for something he believes in again. Ben has been a long time activist and strong supporter of Feeding America, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and his funding of an inititative to support the people of the Eastern Congo. With his rising sign and Venus in Cancer, he definitely orients toward a strong commitment to the global family.
