Greetings!

The Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time reminds us that God meets every hunger of the heart and every need of the body. His love is constant, generous, and near. Each reading invites us to trust His abundance, and to become stewards of the gifts He places in our hands.

Isaiah proclaims a feast without cost: food, drink, and a covenant that never fades. God asks only that we come, receive, and be renewed. Jesus echoes this welcome as He feeds thousands with almost nothing, showing that whatever we offer, our time, our talents, and our treasure, God can multiply for the good of others.

The Psalm calls us to kindness, justice, and mercy, the daily stewardship of a heart shaped by God.

Paul assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. No fear, hardship, anger, feelings of hopelessness, or even death can break this bond. God’s grace comes first, and our lives become a grateful response, using our gifts wisely, returning when we stray, and trusting His steady invitation home.

The Gospel reveals Jesus feeding the multitude, a tender sign of God’s care for every need. This miracle points to the Eucharist, where Christ gives not just bread, but His very self, nourishing us so we can nourish the world.

The message of this Sunday is radiant and simple: God provides freely. God sustains. God loves without end. And we are invited to receive His gifts with open hands, and steward them with generous hearts for the sake of others.

Livestream will not be available this week for the 11:00am Mass on Sunday, August 2nd. The Livestream will return Sunday, August 9th.

Thank you for your understanding.

Parish News & Events:

An extended Invitation to Join the Pilgrimage

For those who were unable to sign up earlier, we have some good news! This year’s pilgrimage to Mount Angel Abbey offers a new opportunity to participate. While we are no longer able to include lunch as part of the event, we would be delighted to have you join us for the rest of the day’s activities and fellowship. Please join us this Saturday morning and bring your own lunch.

Preprinted Envelopes

If you are still receiving donation envelopes but no longer need them, or if you now give by check, QCD, RMD, or through WeShare, we would be very grateful if you would let us know so we can discontinue sending them. Doing so helps our parish be good stewards of our resources while still keeping an accurate record of your generous support. Thank you for your kindness and for all you do for our church community. If you would like to stop receiving envelopes, please email Sue Johnson by clicking the button below or sending an email to sjohnson@rcparish.org.

Faith Formation: Growing as Disciples at Every Age:

Join the Pocket Prayer Ministry

Do you have a heart for prayer and a desire to support others in a meaningful way?

We invite you to become part of Resurrection Parish's Pocket Prayer Ministry!

The Pocket Prayer Ministry is a simple yet powerful way to share God's love and encouragement. Members of the ministry create small, hand knitted prayer cards filled with scripture, blessings, and words of hope. These prayer cards are placed throughout the church and are shared with those who may be facing challenges, celebrating joys, or simply needing a reminder that God is with them.

Through this ministry, a small handmade note can make a big difference. A pocket prayer can bring comfort to someone who is grieving, strength to someone who is struggling, or peace to someone seeking God's guidance. It is a beautiful way to let others know that they are seen, loved, and being prayed for.

If you would like to join the Pocket Prayer Ministry and help brighten someone's day with a message of faith and hope, we would love to have you! Together, we can be instruments of God's grace, one prayer card at a time.

Family Promise School Supplies Collection

At Resurrection Parish, we are honored to partner with Family Promise of Tualatin/Tigard, an organization dedicated to helping families stay together and supported as they navigate challenging times. Through shelter services and ongoing assistance, Family Promise provides hope, stability, and a path forward for families experiencing housing insecurity.

How You Can Help

Family Promise is collecting school supplies for children currently staying in shelter programs as well as those who have recently transitioned into housing. The requested items will help students begin the school year feeling prepared, supported, and encouraged. A more detailed list of supplies is on the Welcome Table.

Collection Deadline

Please drop off supplies in the marked buggy by Parish Hall by Sunday, August 9 (for the parish hall) or through the week of August 10—14 (for the school).

Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children and families. Your generosity helps provide not only school supplies, but also hope, dignity, and encouragement for a successful school year ahead.

Thank you for supporting Family Promise and the families they serve.

Resurrection Catholic Parish School News:

There are two meaningful ways to give to our school:

• Endowment Fund – Contribute to our new endowment, blessed with matching gifts of up to $65,000, helping secure the future of Catholic education for generations to come. Your gift to the Endowment helps support the corpus of education. The income earned will help Resurrection School offer more tuition assistance, as well as do necessary improvements throughout the years. This is an investment that will support our school for years to come.

• School Support – Your gift directly extends tuition assistance, opening our doors wider to families in need.

Opportunities to Contribute:

QCD

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who meet the age requirements old or older to donate up to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.

RMD

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you meet the age requirements. Changes in deduction rules and limitations will impact how much you can deduct for donations.

Meeting the age requirements, you may qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.

Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.

Contact your financial advisor for updated and relevant tax advise.

Will, Living Trust & Estate Planning

Include Resurrection Catholic Parish or School in your will, trust or estate planning. Your gift – no matter how big or small – ensures our church, school, or school endowment fund can continue all of the incredible work we do, and you will be making an impact in the lives of others for many years to come.

We are deeply grateful for your consideration in supporting

Resurrection Catholic Church and Resurrection Catholic Parish School

with your generous donations. Thank you for keeping us in your hearts.

Universal Church Appeal Collection

Beginning in 2026, the Archdiocese of Portland is introducing the Universal Church Appeal, a streamlined approach that replaces more than 15 individual national

second collections with one unified annual appeal.

Through one simple, primarily digital giving opportunity, parishioners can support multiple domestic and international Church ministries, including Catholic Relief Services, Peter’s Pence, and World Missions. Gifts are passed through in full according to each donor’s designation.

There are QR-coded cards on the welcome table.
