PARKS AND REC MONTH

This year’s Parks and Recreation Month theme — Build Together, Play Together — celebrates 40 years of Parks and Recreation Month. This year, we celebrate the parks and recreation professionals who help create thriving communities when we Build Together, Play Together.

Local parks play a vital role in daily life by promoting physical activity and making cities more livable. From sports fields and trails to pools and playgrounds, parks support healthy lifestyles. They also help cool urban areas and absorb stormwater runoff, reducing heat and flood risks while enhancing community safety and comfort.

Visit our website to learn more about our parks and how to visit.

2025 CHRISTMAS TRIP

Join us from November 20 - 23 for our 2025 Christmas in Branson Trip! Christmas lights abound as we enjoy the festive atmosphere of Christmas in the Ozarks. Trip highlights include Christmas Shows like “The Six Show”, an evening dinner cruise on beautiful Table Rock Lake on the Showboat Branson Belle, and an elegant private dinner served by the culinary students at Dobyns Dining Room in The Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks.

We will also enjoy a campus tour of the College of the Ozarks and a visit to the Ralph Foster Museum on campus. Enjoy a Sunday Brunch at Hemingway’s Blue Water Café located in the Bass Pro Shops flagship store in Springfield MO.

No outside food or drinks allowed into these events. Register today before these popular movie nights sell out! Tickets must be purchased in advance.

AQUATIC FITNESS PROGRAMS

Aquacycle combines the intensity of a traditional spin class with the low impact of water. It is a great workout for those recovering from an injury or those looking for a different exercise experience.

Aquacize is a water aerobics class that is geared toward those who prefer less choreography in their workouts but still enjoy cardiovascular fitness and toning, modified to fit the need of the participant.

SAFETY IN THE PARKS

While out and about in the parks, our Ranger Division would like to remind you of a few safety tips and rules for everyone to have the most enjoyable experience.

  • Do not leave valuables inside your vehicle in plain sight. Properly secure your belongings or leave them at home.
  • Carry your cell phone or have a buddy join you while exercising in the parks.
  • Speed limit in ALL parks is 15 mph, be vigilant and watch for pedestrians.
  • Dogs are required to be on a leash at all times and owners are responsible for removing pet waste.
  • No motorized vehicles, including golf carts, on trails, sidewalks or grass.
  • Please be sure all fires within a barbecue pit are extinguished prior to leaving.
  • Please be courteous to other park visitors by picking up your litter and avoiding disruptive behavior.
  • Keeping your cell phone close can not only save your life in an emergency but also aid in saving the lives of others.

To report a suspicious person, activity or vehicle of concern, call the St. Charles Police/Ranger Dispatch at (636) 949-3300. We appreciate all eyes and ears within the parks and welcome comments. General observations can be made by calling the St. Charles Parks and Recreation Department's Administration Office at (636)949-3372. For immediate emergency response to report fire, medical emergency or a crime in progress, dial 9-1-1.
