BC Proposes Changes to Provincial Labour Laws, Workers Compensation Act
Labour Minister Harry Bains recently tabled Bill 23, a proposal to amend the Workers Compensation Act which would provide WorkSafeBC with more power to authorize treatments, and increase the amount of compensation that a worker can receive, while raising the maximum annual salary amount on which workers' compensation benefits are based.

Critical advocacy efforts are taking place to ensure that these changes do not pose undue financial stress on employers as they continue to deal with reopening challenges, changes to their operations, staffing, and more.

NICHOLAS FANE | GetintheLoop

After University, Nicholas Fane began his career in local media with the Daily Courier; it was this experience that sparked an interest in media and local businesses. The knowledge he gained started him down a path to understand the impact that e-commerce, traditional media fragmentation, and a changing economy have on small business in Canada, more specifically the Okanagan. This brought him to GetintheLoop, a mobile marketing technology start-up in Kelowna that was solving the modern problems that SMBs were facing in Western Canada.

As the COO at GetintheLoop, Nicholas is fortunate to be able to work with energetic professionals in many different aspects of the business. Nicholas has had the opportunity to speak frequently with students about digital technologies at UBC and Okanagan College and work with classes as an industry example on term projects. GetintheLoop has been recognized as one of the fastest growing franchises in Canada with over 50 locations sold in the first year of franchising.
