Jeanette McFarlane –

It is with great pride and heartfelt appreciation that we honour Jeanette McFarlane as Mulmur’s 2025 Outstanding Citizen of the Year—a title richly deserved by someone whose passion, energy, and unwavering dedication continue to shape and strengthen our community.

Jeanette may not seek the spotlight, but her impact speaks volumes. Mulmur Proclaims May as Sexual Violence Prevention Month

At a recent council meeting, Mayor Horner officially proclaimed May 2025 as Sexual Violence Prevention Month in the Township of Mulmur, in support of the efforts led by Family Transition Place.

The proclamation highlights the widespread impact of sexual violence, noting that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will experience sexual assault in their lifetime—often by someone they know—and many will not report the crime.

It emphasizes the need for education, awareness, and community engagement to support survivors and prevent sexual violence.

Residents are encouraged to recognize the commitment of local organizations and take part in creating a safer, more informed community through prevention and support.

Celebrating National Public Works Week:

May 18–24

From May 18 to 24, communities across Canada celebrate National Public Works Week, recognizing the vital contributions of public works professionals. This year’s theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” shines a spotlight on the dedication, mission, and dependable service these essential workers provide each and every day.

Our skilled and dedicated Public Works team are at the heart of what keeps our Township functioning day in and day out. We extend our sincere thanks to our Public Works team for keeping our roads safe, our infrastructure strong, and our community running smoothly—through every season.

Their purpose is clear: to ensure the safety, sustainability, and quality of life for all who live, work, and travel through our community. And their constant presence, whether clearing snow, repairing roads, or maintaining public spaces, reflects a quiet but unwavering commitment to service that we deeply value.

Mulmur Awarded Blue Jays Field of Dreams Grant!

Mulmur is proud to be one of 15 communities across Canada selected for the 2025 Field Of Dreams grant, made possible by Jays Care Foundation and TD. This funding will support major upgrades to the Honeywood Baseball Diamond, creating a safer, more inclusive space for players and fans.

What’s Coming:

  • Infield Renovation: Full removal and replacement of the current infield, edge redefinition, and installation of barriers to prevent overgrowth.
  • Pitching Mound: A regulation mound will allow teams aged 13+ to use the diamond.
  • Dugout Upgrades: New aluminum benches and covered dugouts to protect from sun, heat, and foul balls.
  • Spectator Area: Replacement of cracked concrete pads, two new sets of bleachers, and a relocated storage shed.

Timeline:

  • Off-field work begins summer 2025 with no interruption to play.
  • Infield work takes place in fall 2025 to avoid disrupting the season.
  • Grand Reopening: May 2026

Thanks to this grant, Mulmur will continue growing the game of baseball while offering a safe, welcoming space for athletes and families alike.

Thinking of Building a Fence?

Planning to install a fence? Here’s what you need to know to ensure your project aligns with Mulmur Township’s regulations.

Property Lines

Fences must be installed either directly on the property line—as verified by a registered land survey—or just inside it. If there’s a disagreement between neighbours regarding placement, the Line Fences Act may apply, or the matter may need to be resolved through legal or mediation channels.

Fences Along Township Roads

Fence height regulations vary depending on the zoning:

  • Agricultural, rural, or residential zones: Maximum height of 1.83 metres (6 feet)
  • Between residential/rural and commercial zones: 1.83 to 3.05 metres (6 to 10 feet)
  • Between industrial and non-industrial zones: Standard height of 3.05 metres (10 feet)

Height is measured from the higher of the two adjacent ground levels. If you plan to exceed these limits, you may request special permission from Township Council.
