As the 🌅 sun sets on Giving Tuesday, we want to share one more story that showcases the heart of our work at the Ashrei Foundation:

Earlier this year two monolingual Spanish-speaking mothers visited our North City Photo ID Clinic seeking help obtaining Missouri birth certificates for their children.

These documents were essential for enrolling their children in school, accessing medical care, and applying for public benefits.

Navigating the process as immigrants, they faced overwhelming barriers, but with the help of our bilingual staff, they successfully completed their applications.

During the visit, we also learned these families were struggling with food insecurity.

Thanks to our partnership with The Hub, an Ashrei staff member accompanied the mothers to The Hub’s food pantry and provided interpretation support.

Both families left with not only the tools to secure their children’s birth certificates but also bags of nutritious food to nourish their loved ones.

This story highlights the power of collaboration and Ashrei's commitment to addressing the broader needs of families in our community.

Our North City Photo ID Clinic works directly with members of the St. Louis community to access the documents and funds needed to obtain a photo ID, unlocking access to services like housing, employment, banking/credit, and public benefits.
