Ontario breaks ground for construction of Ontario Line’s Pape Station
The Government of Ontario has officially broken ground at Pape Station, marking the start of construction to build a new interchange station connecting the Ontario Line with the TTC’s Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth).
Construction at Pape Station is now underway with work to build the foundations required for excavations that will ultimately connect the two subway lines. The new station will serve tens of thousands of commuters every day, facilitating more than 9,000 transfers during the morning rush hour alone and reducing crowding on Line 1 (Yonge-University) by 15 per cent and Line 2 by over 20 per cent.

Altus CRE panel expresses concern over fundamentals
Altus Group has reported the cost of capital remains the top priority issue for the fourth consecutive quarter for North American commercial real estate investors, followed by concerns about insurance costs in the U.S. and construction costs in Canada. Four Altus Group valuation experts from across the continent recently pored over those and other results from Altus’s Q2 2024 CRE Industry Conditions and Sentiment Survey during a webinar held July 11.
They observed the office sector remains the weakling of the industry; there’s a hunger for data centres and student housing; and retail has been the sleeper of the past year.
