Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed Judge Jason Bomia to serve as judge of the 37th Judicial Circuit Court in Calhoun County, effective August 17, 2026.
Judge Bomia currently serves as Chief Judge of the 10th District Court in Battle Creek, where he has served since 2019. His appointment fills a partial term following the retirement of Judge Brian Kirkham. The term expires January 1, 2029.
“Judge Bomia has served the citizens of Calhoun County with distinction as a Judge of the 10th District Court and brings significant judicial experience, professionalism, and a strong commitment to public service to the Circuit Court bench,” said Chief Circuit Judge Sarah S. Lincoln. “His knowledge of our local court system and dedication to the fair and effective administration of justice will serve the Circuit Court and our community well.”
Judge Bomia will maintain his chambers on the fourth floor of the Mary S. Coleman Justice Center of Calhoun County and will preside in Courtroom 474.
Judge Bomia earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Siena Heights University.
“On behalf of the judges and staff of the Calhoun County Courts, I congratulate Judge Bomia on his appointment and look forward to welcoming him to the 37th Circuit Court,” Lincoln said.
