Multi-Emmy Award-Winning Composer/Producer/Jazz Pianist
Greetings!

It should of course go without saying by now that the concert mentioned in my previous newsletter (below) featuring the Brooklyn College Global Jazz Big Band under my direction with special guest David Murray that was supposed to take place today (Tues. 3/17) has been cancelled or postponed (along with a tour I was scheduled to do in Europe with James Brandon Lewis' quartet later this month). The Tribute to Bluiett concert (4/4 at Sista's Place in Brooklyn) will I'm sure also be in a "holding pattern" for the time being (with further updates soon).

Right now it's (needless to say) time just to hunker down. I'll be at home with family writing music at my computer and teaching part-time at Brooklyn College remotely (if anyone needs my composing/arranging/teaching services just let me know) and Bandcamp is also letting everyone know that you can buy their artists' CD's (including my own ) this Friday (midnight to midnight Pacific Time) with Bandcamp's revenue share waived (just to pass this along).

But for now, everyone please just take care of yourselves and loved ones, and stay safe! (with more to come down the line).

Sincerely,

- D.D JACKSON
BROOKLYN COLLEGE BIG BAND WITH DAVID MURRAY
NEXT WEEK! [CANCELLED]
Come see our concert (open to the public) at Brooklyn College's Tow Center for the Performing Arts (across from Whitehead Hall ) on Tues. Mar. 17th at 7 pm featuring tenor sax great David Murray in a concert dedicated to the music of Duke Ellington featuring arrangements by David and myself (admission $10 at the door).
Here's a performance I edited from last semester featuring the music of Haitian jazz master tenor saxophonist/composer Buyu Ambroise in an arrangement written/conducted by our Global Jazz Masters degree student Julian Velasco (with me leaving the director's podium temporarily to play piano!) It took place in the same performance venue our concert with David will take place next week (click or tap below):
