The Week of July 4th, 2023

Advocate. Educate. Collaborate.

The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets people to do the greatest things.

~ Ronald Reagan

Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce in Pictures Sponsored by MEWA

The 4^th of July is INDEPENDENCE DAY. America is rich in facts and history surrounding the 4^th of July. Prior to the Civil War, it was deemed unpatriotic for business owners to keep their establishments open on July 4th. George Washington celebrated the July 4th holiday by giving his soldiers a double ration of rum. The Continental Congress voted for independence on July 2, 1776. The very first 4th of July fireworks show took place in Philadelphia in 1777. Americans eat around 150 million hot dogs each Independence Day.

Ambassadors have much in common, starting with their love of laughter and celebration. Terri, Back to Origins Water (left), and Saskia, Green Lights Commercial Realty (right) were “vested” at a recent AM by fellow Ambassadors, Lori, and Rob, State Farm-Rob Hendrickson Agency. Let the fun begin.

Pink Sistas Sponsored by Weston Buick GMC Kia

Another example of giving back to the community was revealed at the Pink Sistas Friday AM. A big thank you went out to Weston Buick GMC Kia for their support of the riverboat. It was all about pink at that "You at 7:22".

OREGON WINE TASTING 101

Here’s how to explore six local wine regions and taste like an expert.

📷: John Valls

The first time I went wine tasting, I could have used some guidance about the mysteries of the experience. I remember observing more experienced guests swirling their wine and lifting their glasses to their noses and inhaling deeply, then discarding wine after a few sips into a little bucket, but didn’t understand why. Many years and tastings later, I can help demystify the process of wine-tasting in Oregon’s storied vineyards for other newbies.
