EAS CALL TO ACTION AND PODCAST GRATITUDE

A Massive hug and big thanks to NAB!

You kept pushing, and because of that persistence we’re finally looking at a real path for broadcasters to receive EAS alerts over IP. Say goodbye to those expensive hardware boxes and their annual update fees.

IP delivery isn’t some brand-new experiment. Cell carriers have been using it for years. 5G Broadcast already has it baked right into the modulator software. It’s the most reliable and effective method out there—and it needs virtually zero maintenance.

The LPTVBA is submitting comments in full support of NAB’s EAS-via-IP proposal. We need you to do the same. Your comments really do count. They don’t have to be long or fancy—just tell the FCC you support it.

How to file your comment (takes just a couple of minutes):

1. Go to the FCC’s easy Express Comment form by Clicking Here

2. In the “Proceeding(s)” box, type 15-94 (or 15-91 or 25-224) and hit Enter.

3. Enter your name, type a short note of support, and hit Submit.

That’s it! Comments are due by August 31, 2026.

And on a completely different (but awesome) note… the LPTVBA podcast has blown past what Bill Christian dared to hope for. He said if we hit 100 listens we’d be “nearly famous.” Well, friends, we’ve got over 147 YouTube subscribers and more than 500 listens and counting as of today.

Thank you for the support. We’re just getting started—and we promise the episodes are only going to get better.

Let’s keep the momentum going!

FCC Removes Limit On Broadcast Media Ownership

By Ted Johnson for Deadine.com

The FCC removed a key constraint on broadcasters’ ability to consolidate stations, voting to repeal an ownership cap put in place to try to limit power of any one media company.

The FCC’s 2-1 vote Thursday was to repeal a restriction that limits companies from owning stations reaching more than 39% of TV households. But it faces a potential court challenge, amid warnings that only Congress has the authority to remove the restriction.
