Dear Supporters,

The City of Berkeley has taken further action to protect people and prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Public Health Order , similar to those in six other Bay Area communities, directs residents to shelter in place and limits activity, travel, and business functions to only the most essential needs.
A few things we thought you would want to know

All branches of the Library are closed until further notice. The Friends of the Berkeley Public Library bookstores are closed, and book donations are suspended. The Foundation office, located at the Central Library, is closed, and staff are working from home.
About Library Services

  • In-person outreach efforts are canceled until further notice. 

  • Book drops are closed. Please retain Library materials until the Library reopens.

  • Public service phone lines will not be answered, and responses to email queries will be slower than usual.

The Berkeley Public Library Foundation remains committed to helping the Library advance its mission to provide equitable access to reading, learning, and community engagement. Our board and staff will continue to work in supporting the Library in all the ways we can.
