Why is it called a Hemingway Daiquiri?
"History. Ernest Hemingway, who stayed in Cuba, tried the Floridita's signature drink, the Floridita daiquiri, and said "That's good but I prefer it without sugar and double rum," which became a cocktail now known as the Hemingway daiquiri or the Papa Doble."
July 20th: David Bays Live in the Speakeasy – 7:00pm-9:00pm. David Bays is a singer/songwriter from Cleveland, Ohio. David combines a striking and dramatic guitar flavor with deeply visceral and personal lyrics to achieve the goal of telling the most powerful stories he can through his music.
July 26th: Bourbon Tasting in The Speakeasy – 6:00pm-8:00pm. Red, White & Bourbon Educational Tasting Event. Come for a complimentary Educational Tasting Event conducted by Cleveland DHP Educator Andie Ferman featuring Blade & Bow Bourbon, Bulleit Bourbon and George Dickel 8 Year Bourbon. Also come to enjoy an expertly hand crafted cocktail specially featured for the evening using your choice of the three featured Bourbons.
July 27th: National Scotch Day – Enjoy any neat Scotch or Scotch Cocktail at our all day SCOTCH HAPPY HOUR... "In order to be considered scotch, this classy and distinctive spirit must be made in Scotland. It must be fermented from malted barley, aged in oak barrels for at least three years and have an ABV or alcohol content of less than 94.8%."
July 27th: John Markovic Live in The Speakeasy – 7:00pm-9:00pm. Akron, OH based singer/guitarist John plays jazz standards, traditional and modern blues, blues-based classic rock and some original compositions.
August 3rd: Island Vibes Live in The Speakeasy – 7:00pm-9:00pm. Soca ,Calypso, Reggae , Caribbean Latin, and Smooth Jazz are the prominent sounds of his vast repertoire.
August 5th: Prohibition 101- Learn Hands-on Classic Craft Cocktails – 5:00pm-7:00pm Learn two Prohibition cocktails and get recipe cards compliments of the Speakeasy at Quintana’s Barber & Dream Spa. We’ll occasionally throw in one of our Speakeasy Originals for a fun twist.
August 8th: Tarot Night at Quintana’s Speakeasy – 6:30pm-8:30pm. First Come, First Read. Tarot Readings are limited to 12 people, get your tickets fast, and come early! Tickets are $30 each. Includes a Welcome Speakeasy Cocktail and 10 minutes of one-on-one personal tarot card reading.
