A Note About New Books and Holds

Baker and Taylor, the largest book vendor that libraries across the country has employed for years, has closed its doors. We now have accounts with Brodart and Ingram and are receiving books but not quite at the same rate as they did previously. Holds are definitely taking longer to get to patrons who want certain books. We encourage you to continue to put holds on the books that you want so that we know what people are waiting for. And we ask for your patience while we deal with this work flow change.

If you have any further questions, please call our Reference Desk at 860-285-1918.

Into the Woods by Jenny Holiday

Jenny Holiday's Into the Woods (following her very enjoyable The Canadian Boyfriend) stands out. Both main characters are very well developed (even if the female main character isn't entirely appealing at first) and the romance is steamy. But it's the book's exploration of the creative process for artists of many different types--dancers and musicians for the two leads, but also writers, actors and painters, that provides the heft. Also quite well done is Holiday's description of the entanglement of the creative process with the psychological healing of past trauma. A Reading Group Guide is in the back of the book for any book group that might want to share and discuss.
