Principal's Message

Over the past two years, one of our school improvement priorities has been helping students develop stronger executive functioning skills. These are the skills that help us set goals, plan, organize, manage our time, stay focused, and complete tasks. While these skills are important for success in school, they are equally important in everyday life.

During our recent professional development day, our teachers worked with a presenter from Springer Learning Center to focus specifically on the executive functioning skill of organization. We spent time learning strategies to help students better organize their materials, assignments, and responsibilities.

As we continue to grow professionally in helping students be more organized, there are many things you can do at home to help your children, as well.

Here are a few examples to implement at home:

  • Use checklists and visual reminders. Especially for younger students, a simple checklist of what needs to be completed before bed or before leaving for school can be incredibly helpful. Older students may benefit from using planners or digital reminders.
  • Establish consistent routines. Set aside a regular time each evening to prepare for the next school day. Packing backpacks, charging devices, and making sure homework and materials are ready can help eliminate the morning rush.
  • Create a designated space for school materials. Having one consistent location for backpacks, lunchboxes, school papers, and other supplies helps children develop habits of keeping track of their belongings.
  • Break larger tasks into smaller steps. When children feel overwhelmed by an assignment or project, help them identify what needs to be done first, next, and last. This teaches them how to approach responsibilities in a more organized and manageable way.
  • Encourage independence. Perhaps most importantly, resist the temptation to do everything for your child. Instead of packing their backpack for them, ask, "What do you need to have ready for tomorrow?" Providing guidance while allowing children to take ownership helps them develop confidence and responsibility.

We will continue to work on the skill of organization at school your support at home will help your children, as well!

God bless,

Corey

Synod 2027

As we prepare for the excitement and busyness of the 2026-2027 school year, we wanted to make sure you knew about a unique opportunity this fall to contribute to the direction of our school, and our wider Catholic community—Synod 2027.

A Synod is a prayerful process in which the faithful share personal reflections on how they encounter Christ in the local Church. Then, Church leadership, in our case Archbishop Robert Casey, prayerfully considers those reflections to determine how God is speaking through His people.  The Synod is not a vote and will not change any Church doctrine or dogma. It is a determination of the archdiocese’s top pastoral priorities. The outcome could impact school communities, so we encourage as many people participating as possible. Your main opportunity to participate is by signing up and attending a Conversations in the Spirit session, followed by participating in an online survey called the Disciple Maker Index.

Guardian Angels Prayer Partner Program

The Guardian Angels Prayer Partner program was set up as part of the preparation for First Communion.  Each second grade child is paired with an adult from our parish and they are asked to pray for each other throughout the year.  It is not a huge time commitment. We try to get together 3-4 times throughout the school year to meet each other and go to mass with each other. During the times they are not together they are asked to pray for each other.

If you are interested in being part of this wonderful program, you will need to complete the Safe Environment Training Program. Please see the information below from our Safe Environment Coordinator, Mrs. Joan Schoenhoeft.

In accordance with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati’s Decree on Child Protection, any adult (18+) who volunteers in a capacity that involves contact with youth must meet specific safe environment requirements before they can begin volunteering.

To become eligible, all volunteers must complete the following steps:

  1. Register for SafeParish
  2. Complete the Online Background Check
  3. Complete the Child Protection Training Bulletin
  4. Acknowledge Decree

To maintain good standing, you will also be required to complete short (5 minutes), ongoing quarterly training bulletins sent via email.

We are so blessed to have wonderful volunteers at G.A. and it is our great desire that you will continue as a prayer partner for our youth.

If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to me at Jschoenhoeft@gaparish.org, or 513-624-2195, and I will be happy to send you detailed instructions on how to complete the above requirements.

Young Men's Faith & Fellowship

Children's Choir

The GA School Children’s Choir is open the students in grades 4-8. The choir primarily sings the Tuesday 8:15 School Mass with selected monthly weekend Masses. This ministry is open year round. There is no deadline to enroll, as we know ability to participate may be dependent upon extracurricular and sports schedules. However, if your child has interest in joining later in the year, please email Matt Spencer, Associate Director of Worship at matts@sggparish.org and give him a head up if you plan to enroll later. This will help with planning repertoire and potentially participating in the regional Pueri Cantores Children’s Choir Festival in February.

Greeters and Gift Bearers Needed

Greeters and gift bearers are needed for all 3 weekend Masses. Please consider helping out in these important ministries! This helps the ushers prepare for Mass and not have to scramble to find gift bearers at the last minute. To sign up, click here.

Fathers Team

Every Friday, GA Fathers meet at 6:05 am to discuss various topics of interest and importance to our roles as dads, husbands, and “brothers”. Each week is a different topic, with outside speakers occasionally. All GA fathers are invited to join in person in Room B (downstairs) or via Zoom. Contact us at GAfathersteam@gmail.com for the Zoom link and for any other info on the group.
